Pimp Your Peanut Butter Here!

I normally use Adam's chunky for myself. It is the kind you stir the oil into once you buy it and is all natural.

Problem with that is that it is super difficult to put a thin layer of peanut butter on LO's  bread because the stuff is rather thick.

What kind of PB are you guys using? I'll go w/ smooth for her. I'll like something that would NOT survive a nuclear blast (minimal hydrogenated stuff and chemicals).

TIA!

  • Can you heat up the PB in the microwave for a little bit?  PB is easier to smooth on bread if it's a little warm.  I use this trick b/c I have to put it on glutenfree bread which is very crumbly, so it's easier to smooth the PB on when it's warm.

  • I use Skippy Natural.  The oil doesnt separate as much.

  • I use the Trader Joe's brand PB. It is very moist and thing, almost drippy. The only ingredients are peanuts and oil. Another bonus is it's inexpensive, about $2.00!

    Oops, "thing" should say "thin."

  • I have bought different brands of the natural and hate the stirring/thickness factor, it just made me crazy & I was not crazy about the flavor of most either.

I get worst mother of hte year award, we stick to Jif. My kids eat PB very rarely b/c DD doesnt seem to like it & I don't make separate meals for them.

  • I use natural peanut butter, whichever one is on sale. FYI you don't actually have to keep natural pb in the fridge. Refrigerating it will keep it for separating, but it won't "go bad" left on the shelf. Once I found that out and stopped refrigerating it natural pb was much easier to deal with! Far easier to remix as needed than to deal with trying to spread cold natural pb!
