What else can go wrong with my body? T&P needed

I've been having some mild stabbing chest pains the last couple of days. Since I'm a nurse in a busy pediatric clinic, I have access to tests and doctors. Yesterday I asked one of the nurses to do an EKG on me. It was abnormal and said, "cannot rule out anterior infarct"(heart attack)...freaked me out a little. So, the echo tech did an echocardiogram on me. We all decided it would be ok to wait for our pediatric cardiologist to look at it today.

She did and wanted the echo repeated. She found fluid around my heart. She thinks it may be related to a recent illness and might be inflamed. She wants me to take 3 Advil 3x's/day and repeat the echo on tuesday. If it doesn't look better or gets worse, she wants me to see an adult cardiologist. If I have any more pain and/or it gets worse and I feel short of breath, she wants me to go straight to the ER.

She wants me to hold off TTC...just great!!! I told her that I just started my period, so I was good for 2 weeks. She felt ok with that and said it should hopefully be cleared by then.

Please give me good vibes and prayers that it's nothing major and clears up soon. I don't need anything else in my life right now!!!

i can see why you would be so worried. its lucky that you were able to have an EKG done so quickly. To make you feel a little better, the EKG machine tends to make an automatic reading based on what the findings are but I find that its not always correct. Did a physician interpret the EKG that said anterior infarct or explain to you why it said that? My guess would be that there were some t wave abnormalities ini v1 and v2 but that sometimes is non specific and could be caused by that fluid, not necessarily by a heart attack. When they did the echo, did they see any wall motion abnormalities? Usually that is an indication of problems with the blood flow to the heart muscle and would be more of an argument to an anterior infarct. Have you had a cold recently? Young healthy people can develop viral pericarditis or viral myocarditis which is inflammation of the heart tissue after a viral infection. A lot of the times, this problem goes away with out treatment but ibuprofen/NSAIDS are used to decrease the inflammation. If I were you, I would definitely go with what that pediatric cardiologist says. You may find that the fluid has resolved by the time they repeat your echo on Tuesday. If not, it wouldn't hurt to draw some cardiac enzymes to how inflammed the heart tissue is.
