Timing for first birthday party

Thinking way ahead I know but what time did you have/will you have your LO's first birthday party.

DS tends to nap well in the morning so I was thinking of something like 11-2?

The party will be about 20 adults with about 8 kids (ranging from 3 months-7 years)

We had his at 2 which wasn't the best idea because it was nap time. He was fantastic and didn't get cranky at all but if I could do it again, I would have done the same time you propose because he typically sleeps 9-10 and down again around 2 for a few hours.

We did it at 4pm, because no matter what H is always done with naps by that time.

Thanks for asking this because we have our date picked but have not talked about time. I think cjsbdl's advice is good. Choose when he will be thru with naps, or do it when you were thinking but make it a shorter party.

At 1 year old Jacob was take 2 naps, usually in the AM and then again at 2pm. We had the party at 3:30 when he usually woke from his PM nap. However, with all the grandparents and cousins there before the party, he chose not to take his PM nap that day. Later in the afternoon is better for older toddlers because they only take 1 nap. We thought about 11am because that was in between naps, but that would screw things up for the older toddlers. By 6pm, everyone (except for grandparents) were gone and Jacob was getting his bath for bed.

We had ours late afternoon as well. We thought everyone could get the naps out of the way and be ready for the party ahead of time...then when our friends wanted to stay longer, it worked out.
