James hit 105.7 last night. He's all right-- responding better to the Motrin this morning, and he was seen at the dr yesterday morning so she had us stay in contact by phone last night and to try to get the fever down rather than going to the ER. It appears to be just a virus, as he had a chest x-ray yesterday (horrible, horrible experience for both of us-- I've never seen him so terrified) and there was no pneumonia.
He's had high fevers several times but that's the highest. My mom doesn't remember either me or my siblings ever having fevers near that high.
Just out of curiosity, what's the highest fever your LO has had?
Re: What's the highest your LO's fever has gone?
Yikes! Poor little guy
I hope he is feeling better soon.
I think the highest we have ever hit was 104.3. I would have freaked out at 105.7!!
OMG! I would have been terrified! I'm so sorry that he's so sick! Hope he starts to get better really soon!
The highest Jacob has ever gotten is 104.3 with an ear infection over the holidays.
Oh no! Poor James and mama! I'm sorry its been so rough.
Bella has had fevers as high as 105..it was when she gad croup. We had to do luke warm bath and cool cloth on her head to get it down..oh and motrin..it was so scary but we too were told to stay put as long as we could get it down....I'm so scared of febrile seizures..I know they are harmless but still....
Hope he is all better soon!! Hugs!!
Our beautiful son was born July 2008.
2010: 2 IVF's,1 FET = 2 BFN's, 1 c/p
Feb 2011-Unmedicated FET= BFP!! DS #2 born Oct 2011!!.
DD had a fever of 104.8 about a month ago... it was super scary but the pediatrician kept reassuring me that it's the symptoms along with the fever (versus how high the fever is) that you have to really worry about. DD was still playing, drinking, and eating a bit so he wasn't as concerned. He said he's seen kids become lethargic and unresponsive at 101 and that's more concerning than a 105 degree temp with a fairly happy child.
And ditto on the roseola. That's what we think DD might have had (her rash wasn't too bad though)
She had 105 for several days (5 days). She ended up having Roseola. Fevers for 105 or more for a 4-7 days then a pink rash.
I hope your little guy starts feeling better soon. 105.7 must be so scary.
We've had the same or close to it. C gets incredibly high fevers - it was 104.5 after his 6 month shots. I called the pedi at 2 a.m. ready to head to the hospital and he had to talk me down.
I'm so sorry. It's so scary. Have you tried cool wash cloths? Pedialyte?
The few times Cal has had fevers they were all very low, except when he had Roseola and it was just over 104 on the worst day (I think 104.3). That was nerve-wracking. I'm sorry James is so sick! His body is obviously working hard to fight it off!
