Do you test with DH or alone?

Just wondering if you take a HPT alone or with DH?

We discussed this last night, I've taken a few IC HPTs this cycle since its been my longest one yet. Last night DH told me he'd like to be there with me every time I take a test. I tried explaining how it could be quite a while until we get a +, and I may have to take many tests over the next few months. And also how he's usually gone by the time I get up for the day, so I wouldn't be able to use FMU, unless I kept it there all day. So he understood, and is ok with me testing by myself if he's gone, but wants to be there if he's home. How do you & your DHs feel about it?

Trying to decide this right now. It looks like I'll be testing for the first time Saturday and I haven't decided if I want to get DH's hopes up. I always thought I would do it with him there. I probably will but I won't let him know I'm testing until the day of, maybe.

When I was testing I tested by myself. MH has never said anything about being upset that he wasn't there. I don't test anymore though.

If testing on a weekday, I usually POAS with an HPT before I go to work and before DH gets up, then tell him the results later. If on a weekend, DH is right there, impatiently waiting.

I haven't started testing yet, it's too soon for me since this is just my first cycle but when the time comes, I guess we will decide it. I think I would like to do it alone, it would be too sad seeing his "sad puppy face" after a BFN.

I like to have DH in the house when I test, because he's been so super supportive when they're BFNs. I think this cycle though I want to try and test when he's not here, so I can maybe surprise him on V day if it all works out. Of course, if its a BFN then he'll find out relatively quickly Smile

Absolutely alone. Our bathroom time is our private time in our house. My husband won't even crap when I'm on the same floor as him. I never tell him when I'm testing either...He'll know when I get a positive:)

MH was with me when I took my first test. I tested on my own after that. I think it adds more suspense if he's there watching and waiting with me.

lmj, we're the same way! We give complete and total privacy when one of us is in the bathroom. So I always test alone. But I immediately run out of the bathroom to tell him the results, so it's not like he's ever out of the loop!

Thats how I've always wanted to do it, I even bought this shirt yesterday and was going to hide it for when I do get a BFP, and just walk downstairs with this on. We'll see, I think he just wants to feel more a part of the whole process.

He's never been in the bathroom with me, but there are times I test when he is home, and there have been times I tested with out him home. DH says he wants to be there, but sometimes I just do it.

If he wants to be there, and your not against it, doesn't sound like a bad idea. I think it's sweet he wants to be involved. That's a good sign! GL

I don't keep tests in the house. But the plan is, if/when I ovulate I'll test with him after I'm officially late.

He hasn't expressed any need to feel like he has to be home when I test - he knows I'd tell him right away. He doesn't keep tabs on my cycle, so any time I told him I got a BFP, he's be surprised.

FWIW I handle the charting/temping/testing/timing, and he handles dropping the splooge. He's totally oblivious except for that I rape him continuously when I'm fertile.

I haven't thought about this but now that I have read all the responses I think I will test alone and tell him if it is positive. I wouldn't want him to get discouraged by the anticipation of testing and seeing a negative.

I usually just test and then tell DH after the fact that I got a BFN. I like to test when I know I could easily run out of the washroom and tell him in the event of a BFP, but I usually don't say anything before hand.

Usually alone. MH has walked into the bathroom when my cup of pee is still sitting there though, that was kind of weird. I guess he could see worse things, lol.

It depends. If it's early I do it alone because I test a lot more than I want DH to know

But if I think there would be a good chance of finding out on that day (like 14DPO) then I'd test with him. He was home when I tested with our first and got a positive. He just didn't know I was taking the test! He doesn't really mind either way.

This is a constantly changing process with us. He knows my cycle and looks at my chart so he does know what is going on. At first I would tell him when I was thinking about testing. However, last time I tested it made him very nervous during the waiting time. I don't mind BFNs so I am a early tester. He is home when I test but I now don't tell him that I am testing until after I know the results (always BFN). As life goes on, this could change.

he wants to be there so i get the cup set up in private and dip it but we've agreed to read the stick together. i don't think i would literally POAS or PIAC with him watching though...that is a little TMI for him. I like that he wants to be there to read the results though.

I always test alone. I just don't like involving anyone else with my pee, and I feel like it's easier for hubby to just hear a "not this month" as opposed to sitting and waiting anxiously with me when I pee on things.

Alone. I can't imagine that waiting for a pee stick to develop would be high on his list of fun things to do. When the time comes I'll just surprise him with it.

I tested alone with DD, and I prob will with #2. Last time DH came in from mowing the lawn and I just showed him the test! hahaha it was funny, as he least expected it! It was a nice surprise.
