Cloth Diapering

If your kid has chunky thighs...

...what have you found fits well? One of my boys, especially, has chunky thighs but a very skinny waist. All of the cloth I've tried so far has given him horrible marks on his thighs, including one mark that has lasted a full month and is still not gone. (Believe me, I have written angry letters.)

I'm thinking of maybe trying a sbish snapless fitted with wool. Snapped fitteds and PUL covers have given him marks, but I haven't yet tried snapless fitteds, nor wool. I have some wool on the way.

Any other ideas? I'm discouraged. Last night I put him in a Kawaii pocket for overnight and the marks were terrible. I felt horrible! So far the only thing that doesn't give him terrible marks is disposables.

My other son gets marks but not nearly as bad.

  • I like Fuzzibunz for this. The elastic in the thighs adjusts independently from the waist so you can adjust for a skinny waist and chunky thighs.

  • Fuzzibunz sized? I tried those and got leaks. Although, honestly, I'm not sure which kid they were on when they leaked. Maybe it was the other one.

I agree. We have the opposite problem. DS has skinny thighs. I can make the FB OS fit him perfectly.

  • Look at my siggy pic - my son's thighs are monstrous.  All dipes give him red marks but nothing that lasts a month.  Have you tried snapping the top snap in tighter than the bottom to give his legs some extra space (in pockets or AIOs)?  And yes, snapless should give you a better fit, though the sbish are huge.  You might consider a BSRB, Raven Tree or Orange Diaper instead as they're a little smaller and come in snapless.

  • definitely fuzzibunz one size, perfect for my son's meaty thighs!  I just ordered kawaii though, so I hope they don't dig into his meatys.  Did you find all the kawaii's do that or just a certain style?

I was thinking about the one-size. I've never used the sized I'm not sure how they adjust.

  • I've only ever tried this one Kawaii--I got at as a free diaper with a Kelly's closet order. It's the regular one-size pocket diaper (not the nighttime one).

  • On pockets and on covers with two rows of snaps, yes, I've tried that. :-/

I'll look into those snapless brands. I just wish that I could try something like this without having to wait for a custom order--maybe I'll see if I can find something on spots.

  • Kawaiis were the worst for us!

We use FB sized (Medium right now but I bought larges on sale, she'll be in them in a few lbs) and BG 4.0 pockets. They work the best for us.

    :)
