How does your little girl wear her hair?

Maile usually rocked the pebbles 'do, and Bella usually had 1 braid, pigtails, a ponytails, or pigtail braids. They both have a bob right now because I was trying to even out the bangs to rid them of the last of the femullett. I can't wait for it to get longer so I can fix it again. The bob can be cute but you have to fix it every day and it's annoying.

Re: How does your little girl wear her hair?

  • She had a bob that was cute, but bordering on mulletude.

I took her in to a kids' salon and they put in layers, and now her hair looks like a rat's nest ever day. I should have saved my money and just blunt-cut it myself.

  • Avas hair is longer (a little past her shoulders) and she either wears it in messy pigtails, a ponytail or down with a clip on the side.

Ella has crazy, unruly, curly hair. She always has hers down with a clip in it.

  • She usually wears her hair down. I usually clip it out of her face though.

the reason: Princesses don't wear pony tails.

  • Nat has super tight spiral curls.  It's  nearly always up  - either 1 pony or pigtails.  On occasion I may just do the sides/front back, but the back gets crazy like that. The carseat ruins anything left down by the time we get somewhere.

Can you do the front/sides pulled back with a pony holder or barrette? Or maybe some of those itty bitty crocodile clips (not sure if that's what you'd call them - you pinch the top and they have these little finger-like things to grab hair).

  • she wears it down a lot... wears headbands sometimes.  she wore clips better as a baby and tot... now she likes it likes it down.  sometimes she lets me put it up in a ponytail
  • Rory's hair is just long, no style really.  I like pulling it back, but she hates it that way because it gets to be a mess after rest time at daycare.  So, she pretty much always wears it with part of it pulled into a pony on the top of her head.  (I'll see if I can find a photo of what I'm talking about.)

    ETA:  Like this.

She is also loving headbands lately.  There are so many cute ones out there, they keep her hair out of her eyes, and they are easy for her to fix and put back in if her hair gets messed up.  My trick for getting them to stay in well is to put a headband and then a flower with an alligator clip on top.  That keeps them from sliding.

  • DD prefers to wear her hair down, but since it is all one length, I can usually at least get her to put a clip in it to keep it out of her face. Sometimes I can convince her to let me put it in a pony tail or pippy longstocking braids.

  • DD's long past her sholders but about as thin as it can be. She wears pebbles, or a pony tail, or a pony tail not pulled through, it is too thin for m uch else
  • Her most recent request is to have it braided like Rapunzel...so we do that a lot.

We also do a little side pony (like Joseys mentioned), pigtails or a clip/barrette.

  • She usually has it in a small clip pulled off of her face. Of course I have to put it in several times a day. If she will let me, I will have in a pebbles 'do. Very rarely though. She just won't sit still for that.

  • Julia won't let me do her hair a lot of the time, so I comb it and call it a day. When I do "do" it it's either pigtails, two braids (not long enough for 1 braid yet), or a half or whole ponytail. Whatever we do lasts about half a day before she says it hurts and pulls it out.

  • Crazy curly here. I  actually like it on the short side, with no bangs cut.  The picture in my siggy is it with nothing done to it (after a hot day on the playground).

She LOVES, LOVES headbands to get it out of her face.  Or a half pony - just the stuff pulled out of her face.  It's a little too short right now (shorter than the picture) for a full pony.  I love piggies too - someone said she looked like a Fraggle the other day :)  She's in a weird place with clips - the little ones don't hold enough hair, but the big ones are too big.  Also likes those "alligator" clips - they tend to break on her for some reason though.  I've been trying to do two french braids, but her hair is fine, I'm not very good, and she doesn't sit still for long enough.

She's had so much hair and has had stuff put in it for so long that she's used to it.  She actually likes her daycare lady to do it for her (which is nice - one less thing I have to deal with 3 days a week).  She'll telll her "My hair mess!!!"

  • She wears it down all the time. No bangs. She won't keep clips in, mostly because her hair is too fine to hold them. Occasionally she'll let me put a pony in.

  • Used to be just a pony tail every day but lately she is really into her hair so we've been doing braided pigtails, french braids, buns, etc.  I found this site...she does step-by-step video tutorials on how to do hair - VERY helpful.
  • DD1 has shoulder-length, thick, curly-crazy hair that is cut with lots of layers and is kind of angled.  She uses a little smoothing serum in her hair.

DD2 has long, thick, wavy hair that she usually pulls away from her face with a headband or clips.  Occasionally she likes pony tails or a braid but usually she can't be bothered.

DD3 has thin, long hair that she refuses to let me style at all.  She cut her own face framing layers (that I had to fix a little).  Zip it!

    None of them have bangs.

    .
  • DD has thin hair just past her shoulders.  She has bangs.

She'll tolerate barrettes, but usually pulls them out before the day is over.  Occasionally we do pigtails or a ponytail, but she usually prefers it down.

I'm keeping the bangs, because then if it's down, its out of her eyes without any barrettes, etc.

I'll also do twin french braids when I've got the time to fuss over her and she likes this.

  • DD loves it to be in a braid.  I also do a pony tail, a bun, half-up, all down, and barretts pinning it back.

I'm thinking about getting her hair cut, because it was sooo cute when it was a little bit shorter.  She's never had it cut, though.

I was just going to come and link that site.

  • In her face. I'm ready to shave her head. It's straight, shoulder length, and grows forward (if that makes sense). She'll let me put a barette in but it's so fine it slips out within an hour. She refuses pony/pigtails in any form. Just brushing it is a screamfest every day because she gets food in it.

Do I have the only girl who hates having her hair up at all?!

NOPE!  DD1 likes a ponytail about once every couple weeks or so.  She has super straight hair that is fairly thick.  She also HATES having her hair brushed--she whines and cries every.single.morning.  She has a short, semi-layered bob with bangs.  She wouldn't tolerate having clips in her hair to keep her bangs out of her face, so bangs it is!

I take her to a good salon and pay for a cute cut that gets compliments all the time.  I would cut her hair myself if it was long--I cannot stand her whining at the HINT of a tangle in her hair.

  • C has perfectly straight thick hair and wears it in a bob and never has to brush it.  R has curly hair that is hard to do much with, so typically I do the bam bam thing or just let it be.  I will say curly hair is much tougher. I was spoiled with C's hair.
  • When DD was little, she did the pebbles 'do until her hair grew out/evened out a little.  When she was about 18 months I could start doing a lot of different things (half up, 2 ponytails, 2 braids, etc.).

When her hair got long (mid-back by the time she was 2 or so) I'd typically do braids for daycare/school so they didn't have to deal with it.  At home I'd do lots of different stuff.

Right before we got it cut we'd do 2 braids or one braid in the back because it was just so long.

She just got 12" cut off and we're back to doing a lot of different stuff.

  • Thanks mommynow! I bookmarked it for when their hair grows longer!
  • DD is very thin (girls at school told her it was baby hair : (  and just past the shoulders.  It tangles easily.  Generally she likes it down.  I get it cut just to give it shape.   Sometimes she will let me put it up.  I like that site too.  Thanks!
