Anyone else having this trouble with Huggies size 1 diapers?

My LO has peed through 3 diapers today, and 2 yesterday.  I had a diaper raffle at my baby shower, so I ended up with a different brand and sized diapers.  We recently switched from Pampers newborn diapers to Huggies size 1 diapers, and we didn't have this problem before!  I make sure LO's wiener is pointed down so it doesn't shoot up through the diaper, but I noticed it leaks out through the side!  Is it just this type of diaper or is it something that happens often?  I have a lot more of these diapers, but I also have waaay more Pamper's, so I'll probably end up using those.  I was just curious if anyone else is/had this problem!

  • We found the same thing with the Huggies Little Snugglers diapers of all sizes. Although size 2 hasn't been as bad. But we found that Pampers Baby Dry (or Swaddlers), as well as the regular Huggies diapers worked just fine. We've noticed that the different types of diapers fit differently. Might be a boy-girl thing? My brothers-in-law both recommended Huggies to us, saying that "Pampers were crap, and they leaked." They had girls. And yeah, we've found the complete opposite.

  • Huggies leaked all the time with DS1 but I have 2 packs for this LO I got as gifts so I'll give them another shot. ironically the mom who gifted me them has four boys and said Pampers were crap for her.

  • Huggies seem to run small. DS was out of the size 1 Huggies before Pampers, however, he fits well into both H & P's size 2s!

This.  DS is actually in size 2 Huggies already whereas size 2 pampers are still a little big, although they work.  Another note on Huggies, make sure you are running your finger around the leg openings to make sure the elastics on the inside of the diaper is not tucked under his bottom.  I have found that if those elastics are folded in the diaper will leak on the sides.

If nothing else works you can always take diapers to walmart and exchange them for a different brand / size.

  • No probs here! I love the little snugglers!

  • My DS leaks through size 1 huggies, but does great with pampers swaddlers size 1. If you compare the two diapers, the pampers is slightly bigger, not sure if that makes a difference. My SIL hated huggies for both her girls and boys.

  • Huggies did not work fot our LO.  He leaked out of almost every diaper.  We didn't have that problem with Pampers.  Huggies also gave him a really bad rash.  We're using cloth now, and he hasn't had a leak or a rash since!

  • We have had that problem with the Huggies Newborn size Little Snugglers. I finally got all of the ones we got at the baby shower used up and we had Pampers from the baby shower too, so I used those and they were great. Now we are on Luvs and they are great too. What I need to know is if anyone has tried the Parents Choice brand from Walmart. Got a couple packs of those in size one at the shower and need to know if they are good or not.

  • Our DS is just as talented as yours! He can pee out of a fresh diaper like 5 minutes after a change. I think it's a boy thing, but he's grown out of it lately.

I think these may be the same diapers that we are currently using.  Take a look at the back of the package and see who distributes the diapers.  If they are distributed by Procter and Gamble than they are the store brand version of Pampers.  If that is the case, I actually really like these diapers and will be buying them going forward.

  • We have the opposite problem. Pampers were a nightmare for my dd...I also have a boy who I hated pampers with. One thing I noticed with all brands, you have to make sure to pull all the ruffles out and to pull the diaper closed tightly so there is less chance of leak I am always careful to do this and have hardly any leaks now. :)

LoL I hope my LO grows out of it soon!  He hasn't done it yet today though, thankfully.
