Success after IF

My husband didn't realize the boys need breast milk...

Our nanny couldn't come today (she said her son was sick, but I think it was because the roads were a little icy), so my mom filled in for about an hour, and my husband took over after their nap.

I got home from work tonight and my husband commented that the nanny goes through a lot of pumped milk... and he didn't.  I said, "Did you feed them after their nap?" "No..." "Did you give them a bottle before bed?" "No..."  Basically they got NO milk from 1 pm on!!!!

Now, I know they are 10 months and will be weaning in a couple of months, but they still need breast milk to keep them nourished and hydrated!  I feel sick thinking of my babies going to bed without it.  I am hoping they wake in the middle of the night to eat!

My husband commented he doesn't know these things (when to feed them).  Seriously, pay attention!  He works from home, and is with them every weekend.  I have obviously been doing too much!

  • WTF? i want to smack your husband upside the head! if you don't know what to do, ask!

grr. i would ask if they got any other fluids. if not, you might want to wake them and give them milk just to make sure they're not dehydrated. in terms of hunger, i'm sure they will wake up on their own (and loudly let you know! =)  ) if they need to eat.

  • Poor kids, they were probably so hungry.  Boys are so stupid sometimes!

  • I can't believe they went to bed without having been fed!  most kids would be screaming! I agree you might be doing too much Stick out tongue
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • Wow.  I'm surprised they didn't scream for hours.  At 10 months DD never would have gone that long without eating/drinking.  And specifically milk.  GL tonight.

  • Thanks, ladies.  They did have solids for dinner, but Asher's had diarrhea so I do have concerns about hydration, especially because they have not mastered the sippy yet.

Perry, you may have a point-- I might wake them to eat before I go to bed.  It will at least ease my mind so I can rest!

  • Oh man! I would be livid! I am sure he feels awful about it. Makes me glad we do sign language, Eliza would have hounded him signing milk and water about 1000 times until it finally dawned on him! LOL!

I think you should wake and feed, FWIW!

  • Well, bet he knows now! I would wake them to feed, too. Especially with the diarrhea.
