moms of picky eaters--spinach smoothie recipe

I've never given Henry smoothies because most of them are mostly fruit and he eats a TON of fruit as it is. But I found this recipe and since I'm always desperate to get green veggies in him (especially green LEAFY veggies) I decided to give it a whirl.

OMG! He LOVES it!

I made 1/4 the recipe and it made enough for two or three smoothies, so I'd say the full recipes would be way too much to make at one time.

I used regular organic WCM instead of rice milk and gave it to him in place of the milk he normally gets at lunchtime. I'm sure it would be fine with lower fat milk, also.

  • I've been drinking these as part of my weight loss efforts - but the website I'm on calls them Green Monsters.  I've found that using super ripe bananas requires no extra sugar in the recipe and I've also added frozen mango which is a nice way to make it frosty.  DD eats it up which is nice.  You can also use kale.  And, if you steam the spinach first you'll make more of the nutrients available.  Good stuff.
