prefolds for newborn only

I'm using prefolds w/ thirsties covers.  They're working great for us so far but I know many on this CD board advised this method might only work during newborn stage.  Before I order the next size up, when (at what age) did problems start?  And what were the problems? leaks?

    DD is 5 months and has no problems with using PFs still. I'm probably going to order some in the next size up.

    We used them with older DD starting at 12 months and never had any problems. I don't know what problems people would be having.

    Hmmm good to know.  btw are you using different size prefolds or just covers?  So far we've used the yellow edged (small) GMD prefolds with Thirsties xs and small.  Don't know if I need to order the next size prefold to go with Med Thirsties Covers...

    J. is almost 6 months, and we use PFs during the day. We rarely have leaks...and when we do the cover catches it!

    I started using CDs (pfs) when dd was about 3 months. I ordered the regular infant size frmo cottonbabies. I never had any problems with them and she can still wear them comfortably. If the diapers fitting your baby, you shouldnt have any problems. Just make sure your cover fully covers your diaper. You need to make sure you check aorund the legholes and make sure no diaper is poking out from the gussets.

    I would guess the common issues are that they aren't absorbent enough and it can be hard to fasten a snappi (if you use one) as your child gets more mobile.

    We used prefolds until he outgrew them about a month ago (11 months). We had no issues but we have so many fitteds/pockets/AIO's that I;m not going to bother ordering more.
