Midwives at HealthEast

Hi all,

We recently found out we are pregnant. I currently go to the HealthEast in Cottage Grove, but we are now living in St. Paul and I would like to change to a closer location. This works well since we would like to use a midwife and they offer this at the Grand Ave. and Roselawn locations. Does anyone have any experience with/ recommendations of midwives at either of these locations? Input is appreciated (this is our first baby and we have no idea where to start with all of this).

 Thanks so much

Amanda

Re: Midwives at HealthEast

  • Brielle (sees patients at Grand Ave) delivered my DD, and I really liked her.  I had some complications after delivery and I think that she handled them really well.  She doesn't see patients at the clinic I usually go to (Woodbury) but if she did, I would definitely see her.

Kathleen Bruce (sees patients at Roselawn) is another favorite of mine.  If we are ever blessed with #2, she would be one of my top choices for prenatal appointments.

(another favorite of mine is Mary, but I don't think she sees patients at Grand or Roselawn)

    Congratulations and GL!

I saw Anne Johnson at the Roselawn clinic and absolutely LOVE her!!  She is awesome and really made me feel at ease.  She would call me to give me test results after hours and to check in on how I was doing.  I can't recommend her enough, she is fabulous!  Her nurse, Kerri is super nice too.  Good luck with everything:)

  • I went to the Grand Avenue clinic and just saw whatever midwife was available for each appointment and was very happy with all of them.  I delivered at St. Joe's and while the facilities are not fancy, my husband and I thought the care was excellent.  Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck!

  • I went to Grand Ave for a few months and found the continuity of care sorely lacking.  I called them several nights in a row for severe abdominal pains and a mild fever I was running.  They did nothing and told me to sleep it off.  No one ever bothered to ask me simple questions like when is your next appointment? (I didn't have one)  Or do you have a an upcoming ultrasound?  Really it seemed like they didn't know what to do, but they never recommended I see a doctor.  They told me there wasn't much they could do.  This was actually the Midwives at St. Joes.  Most of the time I was too delirious to talk on the phone and had to have my husband talk, so it wasn't like i was able to think clearly about what I might need..  They also gave me very poor advice on when to schedule appointments.  If I hadn't done more research I would have missed some key ultrasounds, for instance nuchal testng, which was important because I'm 38.  I switched to the midwives at HCMC east lake clinic and couldn't be happier.
