I'm a real estate moron. What's a "villa" or "detached villa"?

Do you not own the land, like a condo situation?  I NEED to get out of our current living space and am always looking at what's on the market.  Please help me.  I'm an idiot when it comes to these things.

    A villa can be an entire estate.  Detached villa means "guest house" or "casita" to me.   I am no real estate guru but if they are using the word villa to mean like a compound of homes then I guess I would assume you don't own the land.  I am curious now.  You will have to let us know once you find out more about the property.

    Yes like condo where you have to pay HOA and dues. Attached villa = nice words for a townhouse and DEtached = stand alone property but still subject to monthly HOA, etc.
