Need pre-k Valentines day school party ideas...

Figured you ladies have already been there done that already and I need help! I am one of the "home room" moms...and have never been given a check list of what that really is. With that said...appears fingers are all pointing to me to put on the VD class party this year.  The teacher mentioned one of the moms has a "craft" for the kids to do....so guessing I need to come up with a lunch/party menu? Any ideas....schedules...check lists you can provide would be helpful since I am a newbie to this...

Re: Need pre-k Valentines day school party ideas...

  • Our class parties are about 45 minutes to an hour long.  In preschool and kindergarten, the party was just like their daily centers.  4 tables are set up, the kids are divided into 4 groups and they spend 10-15 minute at each table and rotate to the next table when time is up.

One table was snack/story (parents usually are asked to donate a healthy snack, a treat snack, juice boxes, and paper products) -- the adult at this table helps kids get their food and then reads them a v-day theme story while they eat.

One table was a craft (sounds like one is already covered for you).

One table is a game (v-day bingo, hot potato with a v-day theme toy, or whatever).

And the last table is where the kids' pass out valentines (our teacher already had them make v-day mailboxes earlier in the week). In case the kids pass out cards quickly be prepared with another v-day book or a v-day coloring page.

  • Check out Family Fun magazine - they always have good ideas.

Usually for food there is a sign up sheet (one parent brings fruit, one parent brings cupcakes, one parent bring juice boxes or water).
