What a beautiful baby!

Twelve days after giving birth, supermodel Miranda Kerr, 27, shared the first photo of her son, taken by her husband Orlando Bloom, 34.

Named Flynn, the newborn weighed 9 lbs, 12 oz -- "a very healthy and big baby boy," Kerr blogged on her Kora Organics site Tuesday.

"I gave birth to him naturally, without any pain medication, and it was a long, arduous and difficult labour, but Orlando was with me the whole time supporting and guiding me through it," Kerr wrote. "I could not have done it without him."

"We are so happy and are enjoying our time together as a family," Kerr, who secretly tied the knot with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor in July 2010, added. "He is our little ray of sunshine."

The Victoria's Secret model also thanked her fans for their "beautiful well-wishes and your lovely thoughts and comments. I haven't had a lot of time to read many comments or to respond, but please know I will when I get a chance."

Re: Orlando Bloom releases first picture of new son Flynn

  • Personally, I'm all for nursing (I'm going to give it a shot myself), however I'd prefer to see the kid's face.

This should have been released in a pictorial rather than a "first look", dontcha think?

  • This pic has been out for weeks. She is a big proponent of natural birth and bfing. Hence the picture.

I saw it when it was originally released. This celeb gossip junkie wouldn't let that one slip past. Really it's a pathetic obession.

But with all the hoopla over the bf-ing in public recently, I wanted the board's varied opinions.

I agree with you that it's a nice photo, but maybe as part of a series.  A first release would be nicer if you could actually see baby's face.  I see this more as her first picture as a mother, not as a first photo of him.

  • Pretty girl! Can't see the baby's face though!  I do love that a "celebrity" has come out saying that she has gone natural.  I feel like Hollywood has turned to these "designer" births where so many women get elective c-sections, etc.

  • My point was, that I don't think the purpose was to release a picture of the baby.  She wanted to promote natural birth and breast feeeding.  I don't think the care about having a face shot of their baby out there.

    You're probably right.
