So in excited anticipation for #2 (due 2-25 but hoping for an earlier debut), I've started to think about getting out of the house post #2. As of now, DD (almost 3) and I get out almost everyday. It helps my sanity, helps her sanity, and if we don't - she's bored and asks to go somewhere.
My recovery with DD1 was SUPER easy - like SUPER easy. I had a PP hemorage right at delivery so bleeding stopped within 3 days, I was back to regular wifely "activities" (by my choice) on day 5 PP.
Obviously each delivery is different but just wondering when you started to get out and what your schedule was like when #2 rolled around?
Re: Mamas of 2+...when did you get out again?
#2 was born at the end of the summer. I was out for a 5k walk the day after I got out of the hospital. At about 4k, I was second guessing my decision:)
Reed was 13months old when Penny was born, and waking up at like 6am every morning. I was at the park with her in the Moby so that he could play with the kids on their way to school when she was less than a week old. No stitches for me...super super easy recovery. The only thing that was worse than DC#1 was the cramping while breastfeeding. Ouch! They felt like labour pains for about 5 days. Seriously. Ouch.
Ummm, you are my hero!
I got out as soon as i could....probably a few days afterwards. I seriously needed too! LIttle trips to the mall and store helped my mental sanity.
I had a so so recovery. I did have an episiotomy both times. And ditto the cramps were much worse after delivery. One of my nurses said they get worse with each child!
I did hope to be out and about more than i actually was though. I seemed to mind the lack of sleep deprivation much more this time. I was more physically exhausted this time (but i was also on bedrest for 11 weeks before hand).
Though i do remember taking then both to a children's museum when he was 2 weeks old.
We were out within the week, but I didn't take them out by myself. Also, since it's winter and #2 was early, we've kept him well-covered on outings so he's not exposed to people.
My recovery was 1000x easier this time...even the cramping. Nothing like yours, though! I've also handled the sleep deprivation BETTER for the most part this time around.
Section gal here so I'm little help but I will tell you that wearing the baby will make it all so much easier!
Jace spent the first 3 months of his life in the Moby wrap.
Sometimes I'd forget he was there. It was business as usual with D as long as J stayed asleep in the wrap and it kept him asleep a LOT.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
DD loves to go out - she wants to go go go....I want her to be busy and not feel side-lined by the baby. I get that she's goign to have a shift from being the center of attention but I don't want her to sit around and just watch me nurse all day. BORING! LOL Or, shoved in front of the TV.
