I posted the other day that my baby's cradle cap was really bad and asked for suggestions of what to do. I also mentioned that it was kind of wet. Well I called his doctor the other day and they said to put baby oil on it then shampoo and then use a soft brush. I did that, and the wetness got 10 times worse. The scaley stuff came off but now his head is just wet. It doesn't seem to be bothering him, but I feel so bad. I will call right away this morning and see if they can see him, because I don't think cradle cap is supposed to be like this. My mom watched him lastnight and she kind of thought it looked like a water blister to her. I put him in a hat when he fell asleep and when he woke up it was soaked and there was a huge spot on the sheet. Can anyone relate?
Re: cradle cap gone bad
that does sound odd- #1 had cradle cap & it was more flaky than anything. there was the yellow crusty stuff that would ooze a bit (gag) but not enough to get anything wet.
my pedi suggested Selson Blue 2-3x per week. put it on- scrub it in & let it sit for a bit- then rinse well.
comb & brush out the flakes as best you can.
but with the amount of wet you're experiencing, i'd call the pedi just to be sure!

thry california baby tea tree shampoo and baby wash. It's for cradle cap. Thats the only thing that worked for us.
That doesn't sound right at all. I'm betting it wasn't just plain cradle cap, or at least a very extreme case of it. Hopefully he's okay. Keep us updated... I'm curious to see what it actually is.
He does have eczema and he does have a milk protein allergy.
It's a very common side effect to the dairy allergy. Are you breastfeeding? Have you eliminated all dairy? It's hidden in so many things, I have to read every single label.
Honestly, I did not have luck with the steroid cream. I think it actually did more damage than good, as it appeared to have thinned her skin. We're on the mend, but it's been a roller coaster ride. I found a balm that works wonders by Avena Botanicals, it's called Elder Flower Creme. It's expensive, but I don't really care how much it costs if it works. Olive or coconut oil will help too.
Huge fan of Mustela Foam Shampoo for cradle cap! I only had to use it once and my DS's cradle cap went away!! It's awesome.
