stuffy nose / cold related to diarrhea ?

in Toddlers: 24 Months+

DS has diarrhea (really first time ever for this?) and the only other thing going on is a stuffy nose/ small cold.  He is acting fine otherwise, not cranky or anything.   Should I give him anything special or avoid any foods etc?

 

*and he has what looks like a bad diaper rash since this started.  Is this all related to the extreme pooping?  :)

    My DS has a little of that going on right now too, and he's also had a cold for almost a week.  Not sure why they're related, but I think they are.  As far as what to do - make sure he's getting plenty of fluids so he doesn't get dehydrated.  You can also follow the BRAT diet if it's really bad.

    Oh, my DS is in the same boat, poor little guy! :(  The diaper rash is totally a result of the extreme pooping.  I'm hoping that he is able to go long enough with a dry diaper for him to soak in the tub for a bit this afternoon.  Right now I'm just slathering on the A&D.

    I think it is a fluid thing... fluid in the nose thus runny, fluidy poop. These were the symptoms DS had everytime he had fluid in the ear which always turned into an ear infection his first year..... If he seems to be pulling on his ear I would watch it to make sure it doesnt turn into something....but usually it goes away in a few days...good luck!!
