Bleaching BGs ?

So BG recommends putting 1/4 cup bleach in the wash once a month - OK.  I just did this....I think I have rinsed 3 times and I can still smell bleach on them.  Now I have them running through another wash (no soap).

So, so I rinse until the bleach smell is totally gone - or is it normal/good to still smell it a little?

Sorry IA if this is a dumb question   Stick out tongue  TIA for any help.

Re: Bleaching BGs ?

  • I bleached mine the other day for thrush, rinsed twice, plus a hot wash and could still smell it.  I think as long as you are confident they have been well rinsed you're good.

  • when I had to do it I washed on hot with a extra rinse with the bleach then another hot wash no detergent or anything with an extra rinse and they were fine...might have smelled a little but it wasn't an issue

  • FWIW, I've never bleached any of my CDs. We have a lot of BGs that we've been using for several months with no issues. I only plan on bleaching if we have yeast issues or what not. I know Cotton Babies recommends it but I think it causes unnecessary wear on the diapers. Plus my DD has sensitive skin so I'm not about to flirt with trouble.
