I am starting to get worried. I am 10 weeks along and so far I have lost over 10 pounds due to awful morning-till-night morning sickness! I have been in a cycle of low days and need to try to keep something down. Does anyone have any tips anything they tried on an extremely bad day that helped? So far all I have heard is saltines, but unfortunately I am also having salt aversions
Re: Help with morning sickness
Saltines didn't work for me during my first pregnancy. If you're interested many stores carry no-salt saltines.
I took the prevention approach because when the nausea hit nothing helped. I found eating something every hour or two made me feel less nauseous. Apples slices and toast got me through.
Make a pregnancy ticker
Preggy or Preggie Pops!!! They are lolipops flavored with ginger to help ease morning sickness. It does help and isn't to spicy. You can get them at any babies us or online. and they are reasonably priced.
But ginger tea, ginger ale, dried ginger, almost anything ginger can help.
Cinnamon oil~ its shockingly helpful. You can buy a rub on one and just rub over your tummy area and it will start to settle.
Dry things like toast, saltines, crackers... are suppose to ease your tummy.
Try to cut down on the consumption of dairy products but make sure you are taking a calcium fortified vitamin or supplement to make sure you are getting enough calcium.
Sometimes drinking straight water can make you more nauseous, try adding lemon or watering down ginger ale to intake water easier.
Also- heat causes you to feel more nauseous- so cool your face down- you don't have to freeze yourself - just fan your face or take cool rag and put it on your forehead or neck. (This helps so much more than anyone can realize.)
Well I hope you feel better and find something that helps!! good luck!!
B6! B6! B6! I just started taking 25 mg of B6 about 3-4 times a day, and it has been a huge help.
Before that I was consuming a lot of ginger, which helped, but the ginger ale and ginger chews had a lot of sugar, and I was hoping to avoid those wasted calories.
I have to eat about every 2 hours. Apples have been good no matter how bad I feel.
Good luck finding something that helps. From what I've heard, you should be getting better/getting over it in the next few weeks.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I have tried a lot of them (ginger, zofran etc) and nothing seems to work much. I do want to try the sea band though, as well as the b6.
I am coming up on 11 weeks and the doctor said that most people who experience it this bad usually go through 14-16 weeks, and some are sick through the whole pregnancy! I'm just crossing my fingers that this ends soon or they might put me on iv. I am at over 15 pounds of weight loss now
Thanks for the support!
