Baby Names

Which do you like most of these?

I should stop banking so much on girl names, since there's a chance we get another boy (I was so focused on girl names last time too!) but whatever, it makes me happy. :)

Here's my list, all of them would have the middle name of Lynne (my middle name, our son has my husband's middle name. FAIR'S FAIR!)

Alice, Aleta, Ruby, Olive, Pearl, Daisy, and Eleanor.

I like old names, what can I say? :)

  • Me too. :) I'd probably call her Ru (Roo) for short.
  • I love Eleanor.  You can allways shorten it to Ellie.  I also love Pearl.

My DH is an HR guy and he says that hiring managers always give "cutsey names and ethnic names" the side eye. .

Aww... that's why my son wound up as Samuel. My in-laws wanted him to have a 'black sounding' name--Jamal, Jarrod, Marcus... (????) and were angry when I gave him a nice normal old fashioned name. I wanted him to have a chance and people to NOT automatically assume that because he's half black and has a black sounding name, that he's not worth hiring. :/

Of course, he's really named after Samuel L Jackson (my husband says so!) so I guess that moots that, but no potential hiring staff will know that. ;)

  • Eleanor with the nn possibility of Elle or Ellie.

It's on our list too-- it was my late gma's name.

  • I love them all!

I have chosen to not reveal our final names on here, just in case anyone that I know IRL is lurking!   However, I must say that our final choice girl name is on this list and it is the first time I have seen it even mentioned it on here in the past 6 months.

    Great choices!

  • I think Ruby Lynne is a beautiful name!  I also like Aleta- very original and not too common!
  • I like all of them.  I think Alice and Eleanor the most.
  • Ruby Lynne sounds the best. All the other names have L's in them and they just don't sound good with Lynne...except for Daisy, but that's my dog's name so I dont' like it for kids.
  • Ruby and Eleanor!
  • Alice -- okay, not really my style.  I think it's pretty, but it just has an old lady association for me that I can't shake.

Aleta -- I've never even heard of this.  Doesn't really seem like a pretty word, though -- sounds harsh.

Ruby -- Not a fan of this one, although it is popular.

Olive - Not a fan.  Olivia is pretty, Olive sounds like olive oil.

Pearl -- Not a fan, althought it is popular.

Daisy -- this seems like a name for a dog to me.  Also, it's pretty little girl sounding.  Not sure it would pass the resume test.

    Eleanor -- beautiful and classic

  • I only like Ruby and Olive.
  • I love Olive and wish I could get DH on board with it.  I like all of your names.

Olive and Eleanor being my fav

  • I really like Alice but when I suggested it to MH he said, "Alice? Like Phallus?" Now no matter how hard I try I can't see Alice without thinking of that male appendage! My favorite of your other choices would Eleanor. I really like the nn Elle.
  • I like these: Ruby, Olive, Pearl, Daisy
If I have a daughter, Pearl will definitely be her middle name (my dad's mother's name).

  • Aleta is nms, but I LOVE the rest of them. Not crazy about Pearl with Lynne, but I think the rest of them are gorgeous together.  Alice and Ruby are my favorites.
  • I like Ruby and Eleanor best.  Aleta sounds like the name for a poor, ugly woman with missing teeth to me.  Daisy Lynne is just too cutesie and doesn't sound like a  real name. Pearl doesn't flow with Lynne because of the 2 L's in a row.  Alice Lynne is okay but boring.

Nothing wrong with old names :)

I love Alice, Ruby and Daisy. ?

  • I like Alice, Ruby and Eleanor :) Aleta is too out there for me, Olive is way to old fashioned and reminds me of an actual olive that you eat, and Daisy is a pets name IMO. I don't mind Pearl.
  • I like Alice and Olive
  • I like Alice, Ruby, Daisy and Eleanor. Eleanor is definitely my fave and I like it best w/ Lynne as well.
