  • These are awesome!

For Jackson's birth I remember getting to the hospital and having a contraction in the parking lot while I was walking.  Traffic stopped around me because I was right in the main driveway!  I also remember feeling FANTASTIC the day after the whole thing.  I had been in labor for 34 hours with no meds by choice, then had emergency surgery to remove a softball size hematoma that developed in my pelvis.  When I woke up I was still feeling the good drugs and I had slept FOREVER!

For Joseph's birth I remember heading for the hospital thinking - this is way to early to be going in - and I was 8 cm when I got there!  Also I remember yelling at Frank because - we video'ed both births - and he was focusing on my hoo-ha.  From the side at least.  I yelled that I'd like my face in the shot too, not just my crotch!

  • Charlie- The stadoil they gave me made me feel drunk and I kept apologizing to everyone that I didn't have any to share.

Lexie- I got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night while in labor and peed on the floor. I went to the bathroom and came back and cleaned up the floor including the pee footprints I had left. I probably could have just told someone and they would have cleaned it- but for some reason I did it between contractions.

  • I love reading these.

With Gregory I had ultrasounds every few minutes while I was in labor.  I remember watching him on the screen move around.  He kept waving his arms and we were joking about him saying hello to us.  We also had no idea how quickly everything was going to progress and that that would be meeting him IRL so soon.  I also have tons of other memories from that night that I will never forget but don't want to be a huge debbie downer in this happy post.

With Gwen I remember the swear words that escaped my husbands mouth when at our routine ultrasound the doctor said "the baby needs to be delivered today."  It all happened so quickly.  My favorite memory is when she was fresh out of the oven she peed on me.  The NICU team was working on her while I was getting stitched up and I remember thinking that my husband was not taking anywhere near enough pictures.  I was mad about it, when in reality he ended up taking tons of great pics.

  • With Mia, it wasn't during L&D, that was hell for me.  But during the hospital stay, the first time they brought her back to my room, I knew her cry.  I didn't actually know they were bringing her back to me right then, but I heard her cry coming down the hall and knew it was her.  It was the first time I really felt like a mother. (It was really the first time I'd seen her).

With Ben, right after he came out, he was just squalling...I laughed the entire time.  Mia didn't come out screaming (or breathing), so it was such a relief that he was crying.  The other funny thing is the second they put him on my chest, he quit and was just looking around at everyone.  Then they took him to be measured and he just screamed and screamed, then brought him back and the second he was on my chest again, he was quiet and just looking around. It was like he knew who I was right away. It was one of the best days of my life.

  • Wow, this thread is amazing!  I'm sitting at my desk wiping away tears as I read all of these!!

Feeling drunk and lighthearted after I got my epidural...I was super chatty and having a blast!

Being terrified as we all sat around and held our breath each time his heartbeat couldn't be picked up by the monitors when he was in distress.

Seeing my sweet baby boy's chubby face as they held him up over the curtain.
