If you are an expecting mom ... please contact me ... I wish I could offer for free, but rather I figure I will charge $25 to cover my material expenses. For that price you will receive a CD with all the best images retouched and ready to print. I am also happy to assist with printing (at no cost) -- though you have to pay for the prints Ala carte. I do not print them myself, but rather send them to a pro quality photo printer.
For newborns, session is in your home and lasts from 2-4 hours depending on the little one. Ideally shoot should be scheduled for 10 days or less after baby is born. My style is simple, classic, and a bit artsy. I will have some samples online to show shortly. Even if newly pregnant -- contact me and we can schedule months in advance
I am also interested in other baby and children's sessions. Contact me for more information on these.

Please feel free to pass this along to others who are expecting or who have little ones -- It's pefectly ok to plan this a lot in advance (even if we are talking 9 months from now), I'm flexible and can work it out as long as we have a general due date to estimate. May also be interested in doing a maternity session.
Willing to travel a reasonable distance -- but more than a half hour may add a small charge. I am located in Binghamton Area -- but have family in Dutchess who I visit so may be interested in doing sessions in that area as well (Beacon, Fishkill, Middletown, Poughkeepsie, etc)

Actually, in response to that comment.
I'm a hard-working woman who is trying to indulge in a passion of mine -- photography and take it from being a hobby to a small side business someday. For now, I'm just trying to build a portfolio and I thought it might be a nice opportunity for some women who might not normally be able to afford an artistic photographer to come to their home and shoot personal, beautiful photos that they can treasure for a lifetime. I love children and working them to get that special smile or unique moment captured.
Although you may not be interested, as I see you are probably able to take the photos yourself of your children or you have a decent photographer already, I thought it was actually a nice opportunity for both myself and the women on this site.
nope not when you come onto to a board and your very first post you are soliciting for business, which is against the bump rules anyways.
Well .. to be honest, I'd probably be treated the same way if I began commenting on people pregnancies considering I have not been pregnant.
I also tried to find information on what the policies were and I was not able to find it -- perhaps being new to the site is part of that -- but regardless, I did not mean to insult any one. Most people, if they didn't like my post, could simple ignore it if it isn't their cup of tea.
You can flag the post if you wish --- I'm sorry that I thought maybe I could meet some expecting moms in the community this way. And be able to document what their baby's first week is like. I'll find a more friendly site instead -- no big deal.
Moms like Me is a lovely site actually and I have made many great friends, friendships and other opportunities there.
youre totally missing my point. this is a great board and everyone is really friendly you just cant solicite.
I spend plenty of time on other photography boards -- but there comes a time when I need the subjects to improve -- I have a ton of practice subjects -- but I need new ones. In no way do I consider "going pro" and that's why a small fee is far from charging $200 for a session which is the going price for newborn photography these days. I've done a few free newborn shoots at this point and I think my photos are good enough to warrant a very small fee. I wish I could just offer to continue to do it for free -- I love taking the photos.
I'm not aiming to be argumentative at this point -- but honestly, can I ask .. how you do recommend that I find more newborns and babies to photograph?
I get that you are new, but please don't come on a board to just solicit. Seriously. And I'm NOT a photographer. But I am a member of this board, and I think this is totally assinine. And rude.
There's alot of regulars on this board who own their own business/etc. that never solicit. I understand it's acceptable practice on other boards, but it isn't on the nest.
Talk to your local pedi office to see if they have a bulletin board that you can put up cards. Or post on Craigs list.

Well, I'm sure if I had posted that photos were free no one would have complained. Again, I'm not worried about it, I'll find interested people else where. I think it's awfully silly considering I'm not trying to sell bumper stickers here. Like I said, and I meant it --- I'd do it for free or volunteer -- but people take advantage of me then --- I've had it happen. A shame overall --- Oh well -- I'm finished here -- not my type of community if people are interested in supporting each other. It wouldn't have bothered me at all being on the other side of things and reading my post. Again, a shame really.

Are you effing kidding me?! WHo the he!! are you to say we aren't supportive?! I have a child IN THE HOSPITAL at the moment (HEnce the 130 nesting, ladies, we are sleeping super well, lol) and at any point in time tonight I could call one of at least 5 of these fine ladies and they would be here in a minute to help me out. We've shared laughs, visits, food, sad times and happy times, and you have NO PLACE to say that we aren't a supportive board based on YOUR ONE TIME POSTING HERE TO PUSH YOUR BUSINESS. And I don't want your pictures, free r otherwise.
I hope you come back to read this, I really do. I can't believe your audacity. These are the most incredibly supportive, helpful, caring girls I've ever met. I've made amazing friendship with these women, followed their children as they've grown, babysat for them in a pinch, all because of the supportive and loving nature of our board.
You have no right to talk about this board, and if you had gotten to know us, rather than trying to whore your photo business out, you'd know that too.
Thank you for this. It just makes me appreciate the regulars on the board even more.

Now that i'm on a computer, I have to say this. (I'm sure you won't be back, but at least I'll get it out.) Bottom line, you shouldn't be charging 1 CENT if you're just skill builing and creating a portfolio. If you had spent one second on the photography board here you would have seen that you aren't even allowed to talk about having a business. These very talented girls call themselves "biologists" just so they won't get in trouble.

If you spend so much time on other boards you should have PLENTY of idea on how to gain clients. If you have a ton, why do you need new ones? I have about 4 kids that I've worked with, and every session is different. This makes NO sense.

Really? MARKET YOURSELF! Is there not one daycare in your community? Ask if you can put up a flyer. Build a website, contact local mommy and me groups. Hey there's 3 ideas from me free of charge. YWIA.
