I am still waiting for AF and several BFN's and a little over a week late I am pretty sure I am not pregnant.
So... I got the courage the call the Dr.'s office and the Nurse seemed annoyed with me for asking my question about cycles after a loss. She just told me that many women have to go on birth control for a couple months to regulate cycles and that she would ask the Dr. when she got a chance and they'd call me back. Still waiting for her to call me back. I was just wondering if birth control is the only option or if there is anything else they can give to women to regulate their cycles. Ugh. I feel silly for letting this stress me out, but for some reason it is. Plus, I am just uncertain about birth control since I have some friends that had some bad experiences, and I don't want to be back to the drawing board again. I was hoping that the Dr.'s office would give me some actual info that I could share and also help others on this board struggling with this. Unfortunately, I am just at a dead end. Thanks for all the support ladies! I do appreciate it and as I am learning all this right now, hopefully I have been able to help a few of you out too along the way, too ![]()

I have to agree with Megin here and maybe it's just my personal preference, but I'm just not a fan of BC in general (not that there is anything wrong with taking it). I just don't think adding more hormones to regulate what your body will most likely do on its own is worth it.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

I'm sorry you have to deal with idiots at your dr office.
AF was a week late on my second cycle after my first m/c and my dr gave me provera to start AF. i wouldn't start taking bc pills unless you dr suggests it.
I strongly suggest you start charting. It helps A LOT!
Thanks ladies! I totally agree with you guys.
I just had a bad feeling about it. They were actually really good when I was going through my loss and the Nurse I talked to before was a little older and really informative. I felt like this one just kinda blew me off. I have had some friends that were on birth control. They said that if you are on it for a certain amount of time, it has to get out of your system before you can conceive again. I have had other people that said that the only time they conceived was while they were actually on it. So... just way too many mixed emotions. I just want to get to know my cycles again and also be able to TTC. When your cycles are off it is hard to know if or when ovulation actually occurred.
I am starting to chart on fertility friend, but just learning the ropes I guess. Since I didn't start after my last cycle it is not telling me much at all. I am planning on getting ovulation testers this next cycle too, since I recently found out that not everyone has the same ovulation pattern. I have been plugging in info on a chart and thinking I ovulated mid-month, to find that perhaps I may have been ovulating later this whole time. We had been married for 4 months when I conceived last time and we weren't really paying attention. At that time DH wanted to wait, so I had told him that I ovulated mid-cycle. We then got pregnant (after trying to avoid mid-month) and then he totally changed his mindset on the whole idea. Then we had our loss and I think I am just paranoid about my body sometimes. He is still totally up for us getting pregnant again, so I hope that my body is up for it too.
Update: While I was typing this, the same Nurse called back and said the Dr. said just either wait it out or start the birth control. If it doesn't show this month they'd consider definitely prescribing a birth control. She seemed a lot nicer than earlier, but I just wish they's consider alternative options. If it still not here in a month, I will just bring up the Provera idea and see if they are willing to work with me. Hopefully, things will return to normal sooner, though
Thanks again for reading and hearing me out! I guess these are all just learning experiences.
I am still waiting for AF. My OB told me that I only needed to go back on BC if I didn't want to get pregnant. When I called this week because I had hit the 7 week mark, they told me to give it a little more time (until Feb. 6) and then call for an appointment and they would give me something to help start my cycle. I am assuming it would be Provera?
BC never made me regular, it just helped me not get pregnant. I missed a whole bunch of cycles last summer but was on Junel Fe. At the time, my doctor told me that I was fine but the BC I was taking was not strong enough to regulate me but obviously strong enough to prevent pregnancy. I had been losing a lot of weight and that is presumably why I missed so many cycles (about 3-4). Same thing happened summer 2009 but I wasn't losing weight...my body is just whack and my period goes on vacation.
I straight up asked my OB about this and she said that as soon as I stopped taking my BC pills, it was out of my system...no need to "be off for a while" etc in order to TTC. Yes, some women take a while after getting off of BC to get pg that happens whether they were on it or not. I was off for 2 cycles and got pregnant but miscarried (she also reassured me that BC had nothing to do with the m/c). Oh, and I had been on it for 14 years.
