anyone else getting anxious about the weather & going into labor

I had my son fast-  about 90 mins after we got to the hospital.

Between constantly hearing that #2 comes faster and this weather, I am having serious anxiety about what the heck we are going to do with my son if no one can get here and things are progressing quickly

Re: anyone else getting anxious about the weather & going into labor

  • I'm more hoping that the weather will spur labor. My OB said the L&D unit has been crazy lately with all the snowstorms we've been having.

We live within minutes of the hospital, pretty straight shot, so I am not worried about that, fortunately.

  • This is our first, so we don't have the childcare worry. I am nervous though because my parents live in MA and we are in NJ... that drive just isn't going to happen in a snowstorm, so I hope tomorrow is the last one we have for a while!

  • you know I wasn't worried aobut the snow and us getting to the hospital, but now that you menntion it we haven't really decided how DS is going to get to the IL's and if its in the middle of the night I really don't want to wake him, I'd rather the IL's come down to us. Well if its snowing I'm never going to hear the end of it and it will take them forever to get here even though we only live 20mins away.

  • Nope - I'm a western New Yorker, we drive in anything (sad, but true - it's like a challenge for us). I am a little concerned about my mother getting to the hospital if the weather is bad though, especially if my father is out on a bus run at the time. She's an awful driver, unfortunately, and lives a greater distance from the hospital than we do. She's slated to be in the delivery room so I hope the weather is okay for her sake.

  • I am a little worried about this - I'm not on baby #2 but my OB thinks this one is going to be early b/c he is big (They are talking 39 week induction). And usually the weather wouldn't even cross my mind, but we have been having random snow and ice here which is completely rare for Georgia. Our last snow we got 7 inches and literally, the state was shut down for 5 straight days b/c we don't have the equipment to handle it and get it off the roads. So now, I am checking the 10 day forecast every day to see if snow is even slightly predicted and so far we're good (at least thru Feb 4th) but it still makes me nervous!

  • Weather has been a concern here as well.  I'm an hour away from the hospital, and my family.  We're on a private road that is not paved and H often works in NYC, which is also an hour away from our house.  Everytime I go for my internal they tell me how low LO is and how the head is right there.

Most likely next week H will drop me off with my suitcase at my mom's house on his way to work and then pick me up.  Makes me feel like a little kid but better safe than sorry.

  • baby #1 here, but yes!  it seems like every week there is a new storm to contend with this winter.  however, we're equipped with awd- there's no chance i'm having a baby at home- nooooo chance!

  • VERY nervous--I can't see anything 3 feet outside of our windows--and I'm home alone.

DH is holed up in a hotel across the street from work (20 miles from us, the opposite direction as the hospital).

NO family near us (we live in DC metro and family all in the Midwest).

    EEK. :)

  • Definitely!  I live in an apartment building with about 120 units... would it be totally inappropriate for me to email the building listserv to find out if any doctors live in the building, just in case???
