If you have had an elective u/s, please come in

I have mine on Saturday. The website says to drink something like 108 ounces of water a day for 1-2 weeks prior to make sure there's enough fluid around the baby to get an "accurate" 3d picture.

I'm trying, but dang, that's a lot of water.

How much did you drink leading up to your u/s, and how clear was the picture?

    OMG - that's crazy!  No elective u/s here, but for my 3D NT scan, I had only had about 8oz of water that day and that was plenty.

    I had like 1 glass of water and a few sips of orange juice and the picture was perfect. I really dont think it matters... I think it depends more on the baby and the equipment they use.

    I have an elective u/s on Sat too and they didn't mention water at all...

    All I drank was orange juice to give the baby some sugar so he would move around. I wasn't instructed to drink a certain amount of water though.

    I didn't have an elective one, but for my ultrasounds they ask that I drink 24-32 oz before I come in. Last time I had drank too much and they made me go pee anyways. You could see LO being squished by my giant bladder in the picture haha.

    I have had one with each LO.  I didn't keep track of how much, but for the 2 days prior I drank nothing but water, and then a small glass of juice about an hour before.  GL.

    I have mine this Saturday also, and they told me to increase fluids and drink a lot the day of! So I've been trying to drink lots, but like you said its hard :P

    I give a side eye at the reasoning behind drinking that much water. When I was still wking, we would ask for a full bladder b4 the appt so we could take better pictures of the cervix. There is no down side to drinking more water though! Just have to go pee more!

    We just had one a couple of days ago and didnt drink all the water it was actual such a last minute decision and the baby looked great they determined his gender and everything was fine, heck I had a soda right before... Good Luck!
