Who out there has a LO that refuses to eat any kind of meat (even eggs)?
DS spits it out every time, no matter how I try to cook it he hates any kind of meat. So I am going to try to give him a veggie burger tonight and see what he thinks of that. I also bought the tofu chicken nuggets to try, we have tried beans but the gassy result is just not worth it. He was in so much pain from the gas it was hard to watch. He loves all vegetables and he likes cheese (sometimes) and yogurt and he does not like pasta.
Who knew I of all people (i love trying all kinds of new food) would have a picky eater for a child?!
Re: Veggie burgers & chick'n nuggets - LOs who refuse to eat meat
This should do the trick.
My 4 year old still refuses to eat meat. His pedi said (at his 4 year check up) just to keep offering it and eventually he'll start to like it. (Which we do. I'm not a short order cook. He gets what I make.) So, try not to worry too much.
However, MorningStar farms makes veggie sausage patties that he LOVES. They're pretty good. If you like veggie burgers, you'll probably like them. DD likes them, too. The only one who doesn't is DH, lol
un, deux, trois, cinq
smoke me a kipper. i'll be back for breakfast.
mmm he prefers cat over dog.
I saw those too, but got the turkey sausage instead, hoping maybe he may like those if not then H and I can eat them. Thankfully my H and I both like veg burgers, and in college I ate the tofu nuggets like they were going out of style.
::fingerscrossed:: i hope he likes them!
I tried some baked chicken nuggets which actually tasted pretty good...I know because I ended up eating them because she completely refused them. We're talking crying, locking her jaw up and wanting to bail out of the high chair like I was trying to poison her.
Kaitlyn also HATES all pasta, she'll suck the sauce off and spit the noodles out. She's also a fan of yogurt but can't handle any of the fruit chunks (like peaches) that are mixed in...although she likes peach chunks when they don't involve yogurt. Go figure.
Vegetables are a definite no, I've tried sprinkling them with Parmesan cheese and she lick the cheese off and throw the veggies to the dogs.
She does like Havarti cheese, so I am left with that and some scrambled eggs.
I'm getting to my wits end, yesterday she had cheese and yogurt and milk...all day long. My husband and I signed up for a class called 'Feeding you Toddler' which is a class given by a registered dietitian at our hospital. The description says:
'A registered Dietitian will discuss basic nutrition and how to select appealing food but not short-order cooking. Also get information about new foods, and meal and snack planning. Intended for parents of children1-3 years old.'
I'm really looking forward to it because I'm running out of options and she can't be eating nothing but dairy all the time.
Ok, so there are pickier eaters out there! I really hope the class is able to help you out.
I get so stressed out over meal times too!
we haven't tried peanut butter yet, and we still haven't tried fish. I am holding out hope that he likes at least one of those!
Only meat I can get him to eat is smoked turkey lunch meat from the deli. Otherwise, he still eats purees for his protein. He won't even eat fish sticks!
BTW, I've gotten him to eat pasta by melting some shredded cheese on top.
