NBR: How old were you when this song came out?

New Kids On The Block: The Right Stuff (click me)

I think I was 6 or 7 but I remember there was one in the band named Joey and I LOVED him. LOL I heard this song on the radio a few days ago and was like, "OH SNAP!! No way, I haven't heard this in ages!!"

I wanted to share my flashback with you. How many of you loved this song too?

Re: NBR: How old were you when this song came out?

  • I have no idea how old I was. I just remember it as always being around so I'm assuming I was pretty young. But I wasn't much of a NKOTB fan so maybe that's why I don't remember!

  • I think I was 4 or 5, but I LOVED New Kids on the Block. My parents took me to a concert when I was 5 or 6, it's the first concert I ever went to. And I was in love with Joey too.

  • I was close to 5 years old I think...I was always boy crazy even then and I loved NKOTB...my sister and I had the dolls, bedding, folders, notebooks, all that stuff!

  • 8 or 9 I think. I used to LOVE them :^)
  • 12 or 13. I think I was too old for them by that point I was more into Depeche Mode

  • Wikipedia says it came out in '88, so 6!! I remember having the t-shirt, earrings, bracelets, posters, EVERYTHING NKOTB! My dad was even lucky enough to take me to a concert! haha.

  • I was probably around 10 or 11 and I'm basing that on the fact that NKOTB was the first concert I ever went to and that was fall of my 7th grade year...I think they were on their 2nd album by then. I also loved Joey back in the day esp when he sang Please Don't Go Girl. It's funny now b/c I have no interest whatsoever in their comeback tour or whatever it is. New Kids are best left in the past I think. LOL

PS. I did see some story online somewhere today where former popstar Tiffany outed Jonathan Knight as being gay. I always remembered him and Danny as the ones no one thought were cute.

  • I think I was in 5th grade. I didn't like the group then either.

  • I can't remember how old I was exactly either, I'm 32 now, so I was probably around 7 ish maybe?  I also adored Joey!  Oh my goodness.  I was a huge new kids fan!  When I was in middle school, I used to wear the big NKOTB buttons all over my shirts and jeans.  I thought I was so cool!

  • I was two or three. My older brother liked them at one point, and when I got older I took his tape. I loved NKOTB, and this is the one song that completely gets stuck in my head for days so thanks a lot!! Haha!

88?? There's no way, I remember first hearing it in about '91 or '92! If it came out in '88 then I was only 4yrs old. I remember when I was 6 or so begging my dad for either NKOTB bedding or Micheal Jackson anything. He refused to have 'that crap' in his house, but I think he was secretly worried that I was boy crazy already by then. Maybe that's why he would let me date til I was 16... LOL

Yep...says end of '88. I guess my dad figured my grandmother had already bought everything NKOTB for me already, so he may as well give in to the craze! haha.

  • I also had to Wikipedia it and it says end of 88, so I guess I was 3. My older sister was obsessed so I heard their songs a lot. Maybe we can have some sister bonding when NKOTBSB comes into town :)
  • In 1988 i was 6, but I got into them in like 89-90 when step by step was coming out. I went to go see them for my first concert when I was 8 on the step by step tour haha. My older sister got me tickets for my birthday and my mom took me. It was pretty awesome they came out of the floor of the stage in these big boxes with fog/smoke haha. I remember the hot pink jacket I got at the show that had all over print step-by-step feet all over it. Man I wish i still had that, I could make a killing on ebay haha.

  • Just looked it up, it was released in 1988 so I was 4. I have a million memories of dancing around to NKOTB with my older cousin who was seriously into them, it made me feel so cool! Smile

  • I'm not sure how old I was but I remember having a giant NKOTB button to wear, a NKOTB sweater (I think I wore it in 1st or 2nd grade for school pictures) and a poster on my wall because I loved them.  However, I know I was over them before the 3rd grade talent show because I remember how we couldn't possibly choreograph our dance to a NKOTB song that year.
  • I was 8 or 9 when it came out--I LOVED the New Kids and really, still do.  My ipod has a bunch of New Kids songs on it.  I clearly remember my 4th grade gym teacher leading the class in aerobics to Cover Girl.  We'd do these over the head stretches to the music, and she'd be singing along "Whoa-oh-oh, she's my cover gi-iiirl, whoa-oh-oh, oh oh-oh."  And then she'd throw in her own "Yeah!" at the end of that line.  Also, she and most of the girls in the class were wearing leg warmers.  Not because it was gym class or because it was cold out, just because they were fashionable.  I had an awesome hot pink pair that I would wear especially for gym day every week.  Man, I loved the 80s!  Can we go back?

  • I was only two, but I was the most obsessed kid ever. All of my bigger cousins loved them as well. I suppose I really got into them when I was four or five during the step by step tour. I got to go because it was a family outing for all of the girl cousins. I LOVED Joey too, and luckily (this is horrible haha) my cousin fell in the Tacomadome and broke her leg so we had to go backstage, where first aid was, and accidentally got to meet them.

And, JOEY MCENTIRE KISSED MY ADORABLE FOUR YEAR OLD CHEEK (can you tell this was one of the best moments of my childhood?). I thought I was going to DIE. :) I had NOKTB everything, and yep, they are still on my ipod and I rock out all the time to them! DH thinks I am crazy:)

  • I was about 7 and was completly obsessed with them! They were my first concert and I clearly remember my Mom taking my and my little sister.

They were my first concert too! (My second concert was Guns N Roses & Metallica when they toured together).  I was in 6th grade and it was for my 12th b-day.  But if the song came out in 88 like a PP said, I was 9 at that point.

So, no one thought Danny was cute, that's for sure.  But I was a HUGE Jonathon Knight fan!  I've been a hag for years and I'm bisexual, so I guess it figures.

  • If it came out in 88, then I was 16. I wasn't a fan of NKOTB, I was listening to heavy metal music at 16.

  • I was 10 in '88, but I don't remember them til the next year, when I was in 5th grade.  I remember listening to that tape with my friend in her bedroom and dancing around like crazy people; arguing with my friends about which New Kid was the cutest; and all the crazy New Kids accessories that were sold...comforters, phones, you name it!  Then I remember how everyone decided they hated them.  Haha.
