Who here loves everything about their job as far as benefits, pay, people, flexibility, etc, but are bored to an extent with what they do?
I recognize that my benefits and all that are amazing, and I have a great boss and coworkers, but I get so bored with the day to day of my job sometimes...I'm sure this is really common.
Also if you could do what you wanted or do anything, what would you do?
I trained horses part time back in Texas and would love to do that full time. I took in about 2 horses a month then, but full time I could see taking in double or triple that since I could do that all day instead of sit at a desk, cooped up in an office!

Re: (NBR) Work satisfaction?
Awww what kind of horses did you train? I showed Arabians in English/Show Hack on the national circuit up until I got married in 2007. Then before I got pregnant I was training a few young Arabians for a local lady but had to stop when I got pregnant. I've been missing riding lately (except on days like today when it's -24, haha).

You know, I have a cushy job. I work for my dad's construction company with my DH and overall the people in the office are fine and my dad gives us lots of "perks." However my job is just boring - lots of busy work and nothing meaningful.

Honestly my "dream job" has always been a SAHM! I'm just suited to home life. I quit here in May and am going to fulfill my dreams! lol! In addition to that, I'm a cake decorator and would LOVE to get more into that. Once my kids are in school I plan on starting a little business from home doing wedding cakes, etc.

I work for best buy. Its not a bad company and im paid better than most in my position but frankly I hate it. I hate most consumers I think they are selfish and disgusting. I actually had one tell me to go get someone of importance to speak to him on friday. What happens to people that they enter a store and become so horrible????? Im bored out of my mind. I answer phones and hawk TVs. THe people are nice enough but i spend all my off days dreading the days i go back. I cant even enjoy my time off i get so worked up about it.

Be a freakin' attorney. thats what i went to school and passed hte bar for. Or be a baker. Id love to be a baker.
I trained western horses, most of the horses I started went on to be trail horses, barrel horses and cow horses! I love starting a young horse from scratch, its just so rewarding! But I do miss just riding my horse. Hopefully after this baby is born I will be able to move at least one of my horses up here with me !
We actually have a friend here who also passed her bar, but works for the government. She makes more money as a contractor than she would have as an attorney!
I can't complain too much about my job...work for the government.
I would totally go into the medical field if I had to do it over again. Math? What was I thinking?

I enjoy my job, to a point. I love the flexibility, vacation time, and some of my co-workers. It makes for a nice environment. But I'm still in the learning process of our lifecycle and it frustrates me, confuses me and makes me feel like I have no clue what I'm doing. they gave me someone that I should use as my mentor, but she's not in my office so I find it hard to have a mentor via phone. Plus, she's way into the process of all of it so she over does everything and I really need to start with a simplified version instead of full gung-ho "i do everything perfectly." It's like sitting down at a computer and being told "Start your C++ coding" when you've never had any training on C++

I think at this point, since I'm pregnant, I'd be a SAHM. I really wish it was in our budget that I could be, or at least be part-time at work. Other than that, I think I'd like to own a store of some sort - I'm not sure what kind of store, probably one of those aromatherapy/spiritual type of stores that sell a mix of different things.

I work for my dad's small company, keeping his books and doing admin work. Totally boring most of the time, and the benefits are basically non-existant, since it's a very small company, but my hours have some flexibility, and the people are like a little family.

I would really love to be a SAHM who makes quilts on the side or something. I don't have the time/cash/equipment right now to really get into quilting, but I enjoy it when I can. Plus: creative outlet!

I love my boss and have awesome flexibility. My benefits are ok and I can only stand like 2 of my co-workers. I'm a grant writer/fundraiser for a non profit and this job has been very very hard. There is no room for advancement here and there is no hope for a raise. DH and I decided that since I graduate from grad school in May and the baby comes in July that I would start applying for new jobs while on maternity leave.

I would really love to work part-time and SAH part-time. I don't know that I have it in me to be a full time SAHM. If I could do anything part-time I'd like to be a Pharmacist. I worked as a Pharmacy Tech in college and I loved it--I should have pursued the field.

I feel the exact same way. Although, sometimes I am so bored I really consider finding another job. I will not anytime soon, but someday I may have to. My job is frustrating because the work fluctuates dramatically from very busy to very slow. I just keep telling myself to be thankful for what I have.
Also if you could do what you wanted or do anything, what would you do?
I would love to work with horses too! I have two of my own, one needs to be started and I would love to do it myself with the help of my trainer. I would really like to own and operate a facility for disabled riders. I would love to be able to be outside more. I would also love to own a boutique, tack store, or be an artist. I always wanted to work with dolphins when I was younger, I would love to do that too. It is sad how many other things I would love to be doing, considering that my current job is what I got my degree in.
Too bad you aren't near me! I'd love to help with a project horse after this baby is born!
I've got a 2009 filly that I am moving up here probably next spring (baby pushed it back a year lol) that I will be starting. I love project horses!
