Scary moment downtown tonight

We went downtown tonight to watch my brothers gymnastics meet. After it ended we were about 5 steps away from the car when we heard 3 gunshots. As we reached the car we could hear people screaming and could see police officers running. Someone had been shot just below where our car was parked at the entrance to the mall.

One of my other brothers was on his way to eat dinner (maybe at the mall) after leaving the meet, so I called my SIL to be sure they were ok.  They had just been involved in a car accident. When they called the police, they were told it was going to be awhile b/c all the officers were busy.

Apparently there was another (unrelated) shooting 20 minutes later about a block away from the first one.

    Yikes!  Glad you and yours are ok (although a car accident is no fun, it's a lot better than being shot at).  Wow.

    Wow!! Indy is getting scary! I feel like the police department is completely incompetent, every week it's another news story about some police officer breaking the law. I'm glad you and your family are all okay!

    Yikes!  That's definitely all over the news today.  Was Lexi with you?  Guns are so scary when they are in the wrong hands.  I generally feel relatively safe downtown as long as I'm on the main streets and with someone, but it can happen anywhere.

    I am so glad you are safe and okay. My sister works at Jillians, so I get worried when I hear about shootings being so close to her. I always worry about her walking to her car at night.

    And they just broke into CBS Sunday morning saying that a police officer was shot during a traffic stop.  Good Lord!

    Yeah but that one was in a more "predictable" neighborhood, FWIW...

     

    Downtown shootings are super rare -- how scary that you heard it happen!  Freakin' unsupervised teenagers.

    We had just left Jillians and walked around Nordstroms to the moon parking garage when it happened...super scary, even more so since we had Ryan with us.  Neil had his company "Christmas" party last night, so his whole entire company was there ,walking around downtown.

    We were at Jillians last night too for DH's Holiday Party! We left around 8:30 just before it happened. Does Neil work for Apparatus?

    Yikes! I am glad you are all okay. I have always felt pretty comfortable/safe being downtown. I hate to hear stories like this!

    Yes, we had Lexi with us. She didn't seem fazed by the loud noise but it definitely freaked me out a bit.
