From "doing it big" to making them pay for their own food at the reception... hmmm...
can anyone say split personality?
Not a split personality. Just wondering who is suppose to pay. And actually we decided against golden corral. We are just going to do a sit down restaurant in the town we get married in and PAY FOR OUR GUESTS. No one said we couldn't pay. We have enough money to pay for it and our wedding and a second baby so please get over yourselves.
If you have enough money to pay for all of that then why were you asking if you didn't have to pay for them? Were you hoping to not have to pay for them even thought you say you can afford it? Because that makes you seem even more Klassy to me.
And for the record you do realize that the meal, snacks, whatever you serve after the wedding is your thank you to your guests for attending the wedding, right? Are you at least clear of that? If you think of it that way maybe you can understand why you should pay. It is your way of thanking them for coming.

Kaydensmommy, don't tell me you didn't say you didn't want to pay for them. You asked if you had to pay for them, and when people said yes, you argued why you didn't (saying that it isn't REALLY a reception). You didn't want to pay for them. Plain and simple.
Sorry to butt in, but I just have to say this: You can't fix stupid, so let's find someone new to pick on for my entertainment

Yes, but stupid does something new every day!
Very true. But I still don't get the people who try to fix it. I mean, hello, she is a 19 y/o girl who wants everyone to pay for themselves at her wedding.
This is almost as bad as my 21 y/o twice divorced sister... who did the same thing at her first and second weddings, if I remember correctly.
Again, when the hell did I say that they should pay for themselves? Actually, I said the opposite. STOP PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH. I am not your dumb sister. And I already said we were paying, because it is the right thing to do.
Yes, after 5 pages of posts convinced you it's the right thing to do...
No, actually I said ok I know what to do on the first or second page. So thank you. You can STFU now.

Oh quit. If you suggested it, then you wanted them to.
My sister is dumb. So that doesn't hurt my feelings at all.
ETA: On 2nd thought, I'd LOVE it if everyone had paid for themselves at my wedding. It'd have saved me a hell of a lot of money. Of couse, we didn't have anything as fancy as a buffet.
Just because I asked a question about who should pay, didn't mean I wanted them to pay. We are fine with paying for them. Just wanted to know which way was proper. Again, STFU.

It doesn't matter who's paying, the fact that you considered Golden Corral says all I need to know.
Hahaha!! Love the PIP.
Really I wouldn't worry about having to pay for 14+ people to eat at Golden Corral after your wedding. I am willing to bet half of them dont go. I know I wouldnt. Who eats Golden Corral? I know I dont eat buffets like that.

Oh my. Kaydensmommy, I think it is your very defensive attitude that gets everyone going. I know you said that you were going to do a sit down dinner now for your "reception" in November, but I would like to suggest Cici's Pizza buffet. Do you have them where you live? It's only $4.99 a person. That way you can save money for your wedding, second reception, and baby #s 1 and (possibly) 2, and still pay for the meal. There has to be a reason why you asked if you should pay in the first place, so you clearly wanted to save money.

this reminds me of when my 16 yo cousin got KU (by a 21 yo) and they had their reception at Paddington's Pizza. For those not familiar with it--it's similar to Pizza Hut. I think they paid for all the food though...

Thanks Chicken Little for filling my morning with this! I have read the entire thread and had such a good laugh! Now, I'm going to be an adult and pay some bills with d@mn good money.
Wow.. Good find. And I stand by my last judgmental statement that if you cant afford to pay for a 14 person buffet reception at Golden Corral itd be better to wait to have another kid... I mean that's only 140 bucks... Youd spend that much in diapers and formula per month with an infant (if not more). Oh to be 19 and naive again...
ETA: wow. You keep reading and THAT train wreck looks a LOT like the one we had here too. I suggest a tall order of BGP in general here.
Again, where does it say that I couldn't afford it? I was asking who should pay. And plans do change for weddings.
No dear plans do not change for a wedding. I had plans for my wedding and for the entire time I planned it, the entire thing remained the same. The only thing I changed was things like center pieces. I never dreamed of thinking I would have a huge wedding, and then decide to go to a small chapel ceremony with a reception at the Golden Corral.
Wow you are a piece of work, and you are proving how much of an adult you are not. You went from wanting this huge wedding and waiting on the wedding all so you can have another child, to having a very small wedding and doing what with TTC? Are you planning on being pregnant during your wedding? I know alot of people who got married while pregnant, but I assure you 9 out of 10 of them did not PLAN to be pregnant while getting married. You're plans do flip flop around don't they and it is funny how they changed within like a weeks time.

Don't hate, we had one for our rehearsal dinner!
But I bet that resturant didn't serve kaboobs.
True story, we had filet and crab cakes. I don't remember what the other 3 options were because we're from MD so everyone just got that. It might have been kaboobs, that would have been pretty sweet! Although we had a sit down dinner not a buffet, we should have gone to the Golden Corral since regular restaurants are SO limiting.

Besides the fact that Golden Corral is just a buffet, it is actually kind of good food. You only had like 3 choices? No salad bar? No soft serve ice cream with array of topping such as gummy bears, m&m's, and crushed walnuts. What kind of low rent shitt were you doing? You should be ashamed?
On a side note, DH would have been happy with some Kaboobs on our wedding night.

No worries... If she gets married in November, she will have all of her wedding checks to use to pay for the meal in March!
Or, her tax refund will come in time to pay for the meal in March.
