    1. Bruce

    2. I don't know any other Bruce's. I love that it is uncommon, but people still know how to spell it and don't get it mixed up with something else. We usually get compliments for picking an uncommon name, and people comment on it being a strong and masculine name.

My Dad and brother are both named Bruce. I love it, and would have used it for DS if I could, but I want my brother to have the choice to name his son Bruce Allen lll if, so I used it as a middle name.

    It's a good name, isn't it? :)

  • His name is Abraham Arthur.  We call him Abe most of the time.  DH and I loved the name Abraham and Arthur is after DH's late grandfather.

I can tell that a lot of people don't really like the name, because I've been met with silence when I tell people.  On the other hand, I've also gotten people who say it's cute, and people who say it's a very strong name.  I'm happy with it. :)

  • 1. LO's name is Mariana Catherine

    2. I LOver her name. Adore it. What I never expected is how many people mispronounce it. Some people say "mary Anna" or "mahri- ahna" but we say it "marry Anna".
  • 1.  Carson

    2. We kept the name a secret and it drove everyone nuts esp since we also didn't find out what we were having. It was nice to keep the name to ourselves since everyone (meaning ILs) we're all into my pregnancy. Especially in the beginning, we always got a "oh what a beautiful name!" with a genuine voice. We wanted something unique without it being made up. Carson is also a family name on DH's side so it's not like we pulled it out of thin air. I still LOVE his name; when I look at him now, I can't imagine his name being anything else.

My only hope is that next time we decide to get pregnant, picking the names will be just as easy!

  • 1. Adam

    2. You can't misspell it. It's a classic biblical name. The bad thing...there are a TON of them and people we don't see much don't remember his name sometimes because it is so common. I couldn't imagine him with any other name though.

  • Her name is Charleigh Grace.

People tell me Charleigh is a boy's name. I don't care, I Love it!

  • 1. What is your baby's name? Corrine Reese

    2. What have you liked/disliked about it? I mean, do people compliment the name all the time? Or are you suprised at how many people misprounounce or misspell it? Or have you found that it is a lot more popular that you thought? Basically what have you learned about it (now that your baby has had it a while), good and bad. I love everything about her name. We get a lot of compliments on it; most people say that its a name they haven't heard used in ages. We purposely picked it because it was pretty and different without being too trendy (I didnt want five of her in kindergarten). It rarely gets mispronounced, although every once in a while someone calls her "Coreen" or "Corine". I am happy with our choice.

    1. Jack

    2. There are very few nicknames for Jack, which I don't like. People always assume it's "Jackson", a name that I don't like. Otherwise, it's a classic, believable name. It's easy to spell, easy to say, and around here it isn't very popular (although Jackson is). His middle name is Anderson, which I adore. If it'd been his first name, we likely would have called him Andy, but we never call him "Jacky".

I wanted Anderson for a middle name - it is my maiden name - but I didn't win that battle. Maybe next time!

  • 1. DS is named Jack (after DH's grandpa).

    2. I love it. It's straightforward and strong. It's always pronounced correctly and we get a ton of compliments. His middle name is Douglas and we always get comments that it's a strong and classic name. I was surprised how popular it was. I don't know of any other Jack's, except for the plethora of them on here!

  • Samantha Paige

It's super easy to pronounce and spell. I find it to be a common name but not SUPER rediculously common like Jennifer was when I was going through school. I had 6-8 in every class I had.

I feel it's a classic name and will never go out of style kinda like Elizabeth. You can find in every generation practically.

I love, love, love calling her Sam...I have always liked boys names for girls or even gender neutral names. I love that if I want to put her name on something...i.e. a stocking or a piggy bank that I can put either name on it depending on how much room I have.

  • Easton Rebel. We love his name and it fits him perfect! I have never actually met an Easton which is something we love about his name. We get alot of compliments on the name. We call him East or E. We get a lot of side eyes from older people...like my grandparents... on the mn Rebel. But it fits ds perfect and we don't regret it. I love that it doesn't fit the Gerber baby mold especially since everyone always tells us he is such a Gerber baby lol.

  • Lucas Matthew James and Elena Rosalie Anya

I love both their names. Lucas is classic but not EXTREMELY common, especially not in my circle. Elena is a beautiful name and it's not common and not out-there. We get a lot of compliments on their names. Elena gets mispronounced a bit but once I correct them, it's fine. I love their MNs with all my heart and they have family significance.

  • 1. Zachary David

    2. We've only gotten positive compliments about it.  I like the name because it's got Greek roots, which means my family knows it and can pronounce it. :) My only qualm (which is small) is that it's a little more popular than what we thought we'd choose, but not terribly so.  We were team green and our girl name was like 243 on the SSA list, while Zachary was like 50ish. I know a couple adult Zacharys, but no babies or young kids.

  • 1.  Joshua Braden.  (I love his name because Josh is a classic name.  Braden, well I named him before the giant "den" craze.  he is 15)

    2.  Melody Tipton.  Mel is named after my grandfather Melvin.  And Tipton is a family name common in my family, and DH's late uncle.  (he and I were distantly related we found out after DH and I got married.  He passed away the day we found out DD1 was a girl, so we named her for him.)  I love her name because it isn't too common, but not totally strange or made up.

    3. Gianna Grace.   It is a classic Italian name (DH is Italian) and she was our little miracle, so that is why the Grace.  I didn't realize how popular Grace had become when we named her.  I love that the name has several NNs though.

  • DD name is Juliette Noelle.

We don't shorten it to Jules or anything for a nn. I still love it even though people always comment on how close it is to her cousin Julia who is 3 months older.

That is my FFFC I'm still annoyed that they chose Julia even after they knew we had Juliette. They had 5 kids already why couldn't I have my own name without them picking one so similar.

  • imagesleepingbeauty825:
My son is Simon Christopher. We chose Simon because we wanted a name that is a 'real' name, one that people have heard and know how to pronounce, but we didn't want it to be too common. It certainly is not everyone's style, but after you meet my son its hard not to love it. Sometimes we get stopped and complimented on his name, and most people tell us that they like the name- could be that they're just polite though.

I <3 the name Simon.  DH and I do not like very many boys' names but Zachary David (DS) and Simon Alexander were the two choices we had going into the delivery room. DS just does not look like a Simon. hah.

  • ds's name is thomas. we call him tommy though. i like names where you have a formal name you can use later in life if you want but there are options for nicknames along the way. we've been told he looks like a tommy.....people say he looks all-american or like a gerber baby. i love his name still. oh, and no one misspells it, which is nice.

  • Hadley Katherine.

We love it. Both are family names. I would say we get a mixed reaction, but mostly positive.

  • 1. Evelyn. Named after my grandmother and great-grandmother

    2. I don't really get feedback on the name, and I'm not sure I'd care if I did. No one misspells it or mispronounces it. We have a nickname for her (Evie) that people pronounce wrong, but it's not a big deal. We say it like ee-viee and some people say eh-viee.

  • I have three :) I love, love, love all their names and I think they go so well together.

    * Ava (We picked this before she was even conceived. When she was born it fit her so we kept it)

    * Ella (She was harder. We didn't pick a name till about 12 hours after she was born. We started calling her Olivia, but it just didn't feel right. So we named her Ella and used Olivia as hr middle name)

    * Drew (We didn't know what we were having and did not have a single boy name - we were sure we would have another girl.  When he was born I liked Tyler and MH liked Gavin. We could not decide, when the girls came to visit Ava looked at him and said i like Drew! And so that was his name - it is perfect and fit's him so well!

I love that they all go so well together. I also like that they are all shorter, :) Good luck!

  • 1. Norah

    2. I love it. LOVE it. It was the only girl name I fell in love with, and it just felt right. Everyone tells us it's a beautiful and classic name. We have never had a negative comment about it, though my BFF asked why we used the "h" since that isn't the common spelling (it just felt unfinished without it). A lot of people try to spell it without the h, but whatever. It's never mispronounced. It can't really be shortened, which I like.

  • Michael LewAllen

Michael is really common, even in our family. My uncle is Michael, my DF and his uncle are also Michael. We weren't going to name him Michael, but it kind of happened, and I love it. It suits him so well.

LewAllen is special. My grandpa's name is Lewyn and Mike's grandpa's middle name is Allen. Thus, LewAllen. It's even more special to me because my middle name is LuAnne, and that was my mom's middle name as well. She passed away when I was little, so I feel like we honor all 3 in one name. <3 People don't really seem to care for the name unless they know the meaning. Some think it's Lewyllen and that it sounds girly.

  • Brett Aaron

We don't get a lot of feedback on the name but a lot of people even a few family members call him Brent! It gets on my nerves but I just don't say anything. Aaron is DH middle name so we went with Brett Aaron. Our last name is with a B so his initials are BAB.

  • 1) Bridget Kathleen

2)I have loved the name Bridget since I was a little girl - I think it's an adorable name for a baby, a cute name for a girl, and a lovely name for a grown woman. I am Irish, as is my husband, and it goes perfectly with our last name in that Irish, sing-songy kind of way. As a bonus, I discovered that Bridget was actually my great grandmother's middle name :)  Kathleen is sort of a play on my first name, but really we chose it just because it sounded pretty.

    3) No one mispronouces, but I am surprised how many people misspell it. Most people spell it "Bridgette", but I've seen "Bridgett" "Brigit" and "Brigitte". I just assumed that Bridget was the classic English spelling ( Brigid is the Gaelic spelling, but I pictured many, many misprounouciations with that one).

    4) Unless everyone is just trying to be polite, the reaction seems to be universally positive. We get a lot of " I haven't heard that name in a long time!" and "Awww...Bridggggettttt. How cute!"

  • Thanks everyone for responding! Very interesting and I even posted a link to this post on the July 2011 mamas board and they have enjoyed reading it as well :) Plus, I have a few more ideas for names that I like now.

  • 1. What is your baby's name? Graeme (Graham)2. What have you liked/disliked about it? I don't dislike anything about his name. I mean, do people compliment the name all the time? People like the name, a few people have complimented it. Or are you suprised at how many people misprounounce or misspell it? Surprisingly, people usually pronounce it correctly...once in a while we get Gray-mOr have you found that it is a lot more popular that you thought? I have noticed Graham seems to be getting more popular but not like Jackson/Chase/etcBasically what have you learned about it (now that your baby has had it a while), good and bad. We are scottish so we are happy we chose a name that wasn't out there but also honored the heritage. I wouldn't change the name if given the chance.
