I still have a ways to go before deciding on a name, but am wondering what sort of reactions you have had.
1. What is your baby's name?
2. What have you liked/disliked about it? I mean, do people compliment the name all the time? Or are you suprised at how many people misprounounce or misspell it? Or have you found that it is a lot more popular that you thought? Basically what have you learned about it (now that your baby has had it a while), good and bad.
Just curious and I thought it would be interesting to read (hopefully you don't get these posts too often). Thanks!!

Re: What is your baby's name? And...
1. Carter
2. We always get compliments on DS's name. No one ever mispronounces it. We also still love his name. People say it's very masculine and strong.
DS's name is Fynn.
People usually like it. But I don't like that people think we just substituted the i for a y to be unique, it's the proper way to spell it were my DH is from.

1. Maximus
2. I like it because I simply call him Max. It's not like I'm screaming Maximus, or the rest of his name all day long. If someone asks me "Oh, is it Maxwell?" I like that it's different than a traditional name, but that just Max is traditional in itself. I have yet to meet another Maximus, but Max was, like, 70 something on the top rated baby names. No one mispells or mispronounces it. It suits him thus far.
Late FFFC --- Sometimes I call him Maxi Pad.
1) Catherine (we call her Cate)
2) I love that its timeless and traditional. I hate that so many people have effed with the spelling that we have to spell it every.single.time.
Myles Rodney.
Rodney is after my Dad and Myles is one of the only names we agreed on. Noah being the other. A lot of poeple have commented on how much they like his name.. more specifically his first name since I just say Myles when they ask what his name is.
People do misspell it a lot with Miles, but I don't like that spelling. I think Miles is a work and Myles is a name. That being said I don't regret naming him or spelling it that way. I love the name. Around this area I don't know many people named Myles/Miles so I wouldn't say it's overly popular.
DD#1 is Elizabeth Adelle and DD#2 is Lucy Katherine. We call Elizabeth "Libby".
I've always had compliments on both of their names. A lot of people tell me they're both timeless, elegant, and classy.
1. Gwendalyn
2. we get "I haven't heard that name in a long time" all the time... I love her name, and we use the full name, not just "Gwen" and people have been respectful enough so far to use her whole name. It isn't popular at all and I guess I kind of like that. It was hard for her siblings to pronounce in the beginning, but that was really cute! DS2 called her "baby jendalin" and DD1 still calls her "baby glendalin"
DD is Amelia Jane
People usually love it. My IL's dont, and never have. I like that we used a family middle name. Nobody spells it wrong, and it is not very popular where I live.
DS is Myles Bruce
People always misspell Myles. I wish I would have used the Miles spelling, I think it looks better and would have been easier for him. I also like that we used a family middle name for him. People usually love the name when we tell them, and I really like it. I haven't met any other little boys named Myles/Miles. I just wish I would have spelled it differently.
1. Jack
2. There are very few nicknames for Jack, which I don't like. People always assume it's "Jackson", a name that I don't like. Otherwise, it's a classic, believable name. It's easy to spell, easy to say, and around here it isn't very popular (although Jackson is). His middle name is Anderson, which I adore. If it'd been his first name, we likely would have called him Andy, but we never call him "Jacky".
We don't have a ton yet, but here is what we have so far:
Boys: Ethan, Jace, Aaron, Trent
Girls: Anne, Remy, Emma
That is hilarious
1) His name is Bryce Hunter.
2) We have gotten positive responses from people about his name (IRL). We get "what a cute name" or "what a nice name". People usually confirm his spelling to make sure we spell it with a Y. Someone did tell me "oh that is different" once - which kind of surprised me because I don't consider it to be different. We liked that it isn't super common but isn't too uncommon either.

1) landon
2) we always get compliments on his name and how well it fits him. we still love his name too!
1. What is your baby's name? Gabriel
2. What have you liked/disliked about it? I mean, do people compliment the name all the time? Or are you suprised at how many people misprounounce or misspell it? Or have you found that it is a lot more popular that you thought? Basically what have you learned about it (now that your baby has had it a while), good and bad.
In general people like the name, its an archangel what is there to say bad about it? lol people call him Gabe which I don't like but I know he'll be called it in his lifetime and its up to him if he likes it or not, he won't respond now to Gabe just Gabriel. Oh and yes I didn't realize how common it was it is in the top 20 for 2010... i didn't want such a common name.

1. Liam Duvalt
2. I've been surprised by how many people have said they have never heard of it or asked if we made it up (Liam, that is). I don't know if where we're from it just isn't that popular or if it's just coming on the scene or what. I just know that we love it and most definitely have no regrets!
As for Duvalt, it actually is made up but it's been DH's family middle name for generations. I like it, it's unique but not over the top.
Dylan Matthew
I love Dylan and wouldn't change it. No one mispronounces it, sometimes I have to make it clear it's with a Y but it doesn't bother me. I have noticed a bit more Dylan's but only because of the Bump not IRL.
His middle name I am ehh about lol it's his dad's middle name but I love my hubby's first name and it's Josiah.
ETA- my husband's name gets messed up sooo much though but I still love it and have still never met another Josiah IRL.
Noah Watkins
Noah is becoming more popular but I didn't know that when I picked it. It is my step-MIL's maiden name but we didn't pick it because of that. We had very few boy names we both liked.
Watkins is DH's middle name and goes back 4 generations so we stuck with it.
Lol, I really should have read the whole thread before I posted, huh? Sorry Bashert, I am just not a fan.
Brooklyn Angelique
Her dad picked it. That's the line I start off with when people know me b/c my name is Angelique. I love it. I wouldn't change it for anything. I didn't realize it was such a popular name. There are no mispronounciations and we have several nick names. I abberviate her name by writing/typing BK
1. Connor Daniel
2. I still love it. when my nose is stuffed up it sounds like "Carter" coming out, and that's annoying to correct, but besides that, nothing!
1. Bruce
2. I don't know any other Bruce's. I love that it is uncommon, but people still know how to spell it and don't get it mixed up with something else. We usually get compliments for picking an uncommon name, and people comment on it being a strong and masculine name.
vegan mama, military wife
Lela Anna
I love her name. People always want to say Lee-la, but it's pronounced Lay-la. We took that spelling because my name is Lena, pronounced Lay-na. Total Swede name. I picked Anna for my Grandma, whom I adored. We always get positive feedback from people. As far as nicknames, there aren't too many ways to shorten Lela. Obviously, I sing the Eric Clapton song to her often... and I also call her Lela Pooh... or Lela Poop, if she's being a poop.
Henry Michael
We wanted something different but not weird. Instead, we inadvertently went with the trendiest name of 2010.
I see Aaron's on your short list- love it! If we have a second DS, we're likely going with Aaron or Ian.
1. Emily
2. I like that it is a classic name. Also that she can be called Em, Emmy..ect. We also picked it so that it sounds appropriate for when she is an adult. Alot of names to me only sound good for little kids. So she can be called Emily in a job setting and Emmy in a playful setting.
1. Kellan Robert
2. My DH and I love it. It's a somewhat unique Irish name, which is what we wanted. No one mispronounces it, no one has tried to "shorten" it to anything else yet. Sometimes people try to spell it "Kellen", but it doesn't bother me. I would not change it for anything. It fits him perfectly.
1. James Edward IV - DH's grandfather is decesased, FIL is Jim and DH is Jimmy. We call DS LJ for "Little Jimmy", which is what DH's family called him when he was young and what they started to call the baby when I was KU.
2. I love the name James and obviously no one mispronounces or misspells that or LJ. People do ask what LJ stands for and I've had a few side eye that the "L" is for little (and I'm sensitive of his small size, lol!). But I refused to have another Jim or Jimmy and was worried that if we called him James, he would want Jim or Jimmy as a nickname later. My big compromise with DH in naming DS as a IV was that we would use a nickname. My pick was Mac after our last name, but I do have to admit that he is an LJ.
My late FFFC could be that we call him Smell J a lot. And it often gets shortened to Smeller...and sometimes Smelly Ellie. :P
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!
My favorite money saving tip: I've earned more than $300 in gift cards (Amazon, Starbucks, Southwest!) using SwagBucks for internet searching - and you can too! It's FREE and EASY!
My Dad and brother are both named Bruce. I love it, and would have used it for DS if I could, but I want my brother to have the choice to name his son Bruce Allen lll if, so I used it as a middle name.
Sophie Elizabeth.
We still love it. Occasionally someone (strangers) will think her name is Sophia and tell me how popular that name has been lately. Not enough to really bother me though. Once n a while I will call her Sophie Liz....I think it's cute.
I am late to the game but want to play...I LOVE my DS name. In its entirety he is Noah Andrew Elmore!
[Noah Andrew (dad's and grandpa's middle name) Elmore (my dad's middle name)]
No one every messes it up and I call him Noey. My aunt calls him Nosey which I hate. I love biblical names and it was a toss up between Jeremiah and Noah. Since he was so little when he was born I thought that Jeremiah was to much (funny seeing as his name is a mile long!) People often screw up the last name because there is no hyphen. So I do wish that I had added the hyphen or just used only his dad's last name. But I am double barreled with no hyphen so there you go
My DS's name is Connor and my DD's name is Madeleine.
We love both names and people seem to like them and say they're cute names when they hear them (people we don't know). No one mispronounces their names, although I guess there's possibility for my DD's name to be said wrong (ending Line instead of Lynn).
1. Ethan Covington
2. We had this name picked out for about 8 years now, so we still love it (ever since we first started dating). Ethan was one name we both loved and Covington goes back for generations as a middle name for the first born son in my family. We have gotten only compliments so far. We wouldn't change his name for anything and we don't use any nicknames or anything like that.
