Today I had my 36 week appt and my first internal. The nurse said I should stop shaving *there* from now until delivery, to reduce the risk of infection.
I'm thinking infection b/c they know we have no idea what we're really shaving and are likely to cut off something important.
So, there you have it. An excuse if you'd like to be done.
Re: Hmm. Here's something I haven't heard before re: shaving
Yes! No more guess & cut for me! ;-) Haha!
Yeah, I don't shave it if I can't see it anyways! lol. No big deal I'll deal with that one after she gets here and I am able to see it again!
Have DH do it. I'm going to schedule my appointment with him right before my c-sec : )
HAHA, exactly. I swear DH thinks i'm making stuff like this up!! I'm gona send him to these boards and have him read thru all this crap!! Maybe then he will leave me alone. LOL
Yeah, that's silly. I shaved my legs, junk and under arms while in labour with both kids and will do the same this time around. Not all of us are blessed with peach-fuzz blonde hair.
True, but not all of us care. I'll just leave the bush untamed. It's really way down on my list of concerns.
I thought it looked so weird in knocked up when she was totally bald while crowning, LOL. It's the image from that movie that stuck with me.

This is pretty much me. I shave my legs and underarms and use a trimmer on what I can't see (don't know how well it works, but it makes me feel better!) haven't nicked myself yet, if I did I'd probably stop too.

The risk they refer to is the risk of getting an infection like MRSA while in the hospital.
The infection risk actually comes from tiny cuts/nicks that you may not even realize are there. In the old days they used to think it was best to shave before surgery, but now have realized that due to those tiny cuts (that even non-pregnant people get, just from the razor) the infection risk is actually greater--it's the non-intact skin! Even with a vaginal delivery the risk is there!
An electric razor it a little bit of a safer alternative, for those that are still concerned!! I, however will take any excuse to not shave, especially now that I can't see down below!! LOL
