Per this thread, we're hoping to condense a lot of the "gawker" threads into one! We thought this would make them more fun to browse and the board an easier read. We'll start a new thread every day to keep the list fresh.
Anyone is welcome to add to the post--local hospital names, the awful name you over heard at the park, Facebook horrors, and anything else that might give us a good chuckle! Feel free to comment, too.
Re: Post your facebook, hospital & other name horrors here
just found a good one:
Bronwyn
Actual legit name with legit spelling. It's Welsh, and translates something like "fair-breasted." Personally I prefer Branwen, which has a similar pronunciation, similar origin, but different meaning ("white raven" or "fair raven"). It was the name of Bran the Blessed's sister, in Welsh mythology.
I actually love this name! I've thrown it out to my husband a couple times, but he's not sold because our last name starts with a B.
Bronwyn is a legitimate name. I love it, but DH does not.
Abraham Arthur 2/21/10 // Asher Kendall 11/11/11
Nice.
Yup. Real name. A character in one of my favorite books, How Green Was My Valley by Richard Llewellyn (spelled Bronwen).
Evan (for a girl)
King
And best of all...
Traylor. Maybe they wanted to name him after the place they grew up? IDK.
I love the name Bronwyn...but we don't want to use it because our last name starts with Br...
Rhymes with crazy, poor child.
If I had to guess, I'd say it was probably one of those "I want to use this nickname but to do so it HAS to have the same letters in the full version!" things...even though "Izzy" was already a legit NN for "Isabel" and all variants thereof.
I love Bronwen myself.

I work in a bank so I see plenty of crazy names everyday. Today I saw...
Gift (female)
Faith (male)
Danyell (female)
Lytsee
Thats the name of a 5 year old girl in one of my classes years ago, she was adorable, her name was not.
Also, friends of ours named their son Kale. I know there are worse things, but I don't think anyone should be named after a food.
Edit: Just thought of these, I know someone who named her daughters: Keagan, Weylin and Imogen. Her son, Addison, got off easy!
