Ugh -- freaking out

Yesterday morning my DH had Lasik on both eyes.

Yesterday afternoon Ivy came home from daycare with crusty, red eyes and I was told a little boy in her room has pinkeye.

Today I'm taking Ivy to the pedi for the probable pinkeye, and DH is asking at his Lasik f/u appt whether he needs to go stay in a hotel. I'm so worried that he has already been exposed, though. :-(

Ugh I'm sorry, that's awful. I hope your DH does not get it. Why on earth would someone send their kid to DC with pink eye????

Good question! The teacher said "He is on medication, though," like that made him not contagious, but that's obviously not the case. :-(

I hope your DH is ok. If he didn't touch Ivy's eyes or eye crustys and then touch his eye, he should be ok. Pink eye is spread through touch so I would have him really watch touching her and wash his hands afterwards to help prevent spreading it.

UGH! is right! my understanding is that if the eye is till oozing then the child is still contagious. like pp said, it's transfered through touch. I had pink eye last winter and nobody else got it (in our tiny 1000 sf nyc apartment.)

what a bummer! do you have family close by that dh can stay with for a few days? he did just have major surgery.

(I cannot believe Ivy will be one soon! wow!)

No family close by, unfortunately. His Lasik doc apparently said staying in a hotel would be overkill, but they were very concerned and basically said he shoiuld stay away from her for a while.

I can't believe she's almost 1 either -- where did my baby go?
