Clicky: What's your work/ not working situation?

Just curious! No judging- I'm a FT working mom who wishes she could work PT- that would be ideal!!

What's your situation?

Re: Clicky: What's your work/ not working situation?

  • I am planning to return to work PT.  I will definitely be PT at first... going back at 10 weeks and stretching out the rest of my FMLA as a "trial run."  If it works well for me, my managers have already agreed to let me make it permanent.  Planning to do 3 full days in the office and then telework as needed.  I must say that this has been the greatest blessing- I am so lucky that my managers even considered it.  I am really looking forward to returning to work this time instead of dreading it like I was after DS.

  • I clicked part time because I hate clicking special snowflake haha.  I work 20 hours a week but I take LO with me (nanny).

  • I clicked SS because it's still up in the air. My boss thinks I'm coming back FT, but I hate my job and want to go back to my old job PT. I've got a call into HR to see if we can get that worked out and I'm waiting for them to call me back.

Ideally though, I'd stay at home.

  • I put SS because I'm a substitute. Some weeks I can work full-time and other weeks I can only work Part time. It all depends on what's going on in the schools. I have the option of just not booking jobs and being a SAHM. Living off Mr.MM's income alone is doable and it's not really limiting us budget wise but I think I need to work occasionally just to get out the house without Paige.

  • I work full time in higher education administration. I WISH I could do part time, but those damn college kids are pretty needy...

I am lucky though because my boss is very flexible and will either let me work an alternative schedule (like 8 - 4 or 10 - 6) or work from home one day a week. I need to decide which i want to do when I go back to work at the end of March.

Hey- you're working! That counts! You're so lucky- my BFF did the same thing when she was a nanny with her first. Now she's a SAHM and pg with #3!

  • SS- I have my own facepainting/body art business. I work when I wanna! Pays really well too! No I'm not a clown. You'd be surprised how much I get asked to come in a clown suit to an event. Hells no.

I know I'm lucky! I'm super grateful for my situation, although I'm kinda mad I have to pay off student loans for a degree I will probably  never use.  anyway once the child I nanny for is too old (if they don't have more kids, which I hope they do!) I plan to do a very small in home daycare at our house.  I love kids and even though I'm not making the big bucks, it's nice to be able to contribute a little and still spend time with muh baby.

  • i clicked SS. i'll always be a sahm but i am looking for a pt job for nights and weekends. we're fine living on one salary, it covers all our bills with money left over, but we will like to help ds1 out a little more with helping him paying for college, getting a car and paying for insurance.

  • I am going back to work full time until march 1st so I get my yearly bonus and then might go down to part time if I want. We are also waiting for MH to get his raise which will be about what I bring home each pay check so when that happens I am for sure going part time after we pay all of out medical bills. We hope by our second child that I can be a SAHM if I want.

I'm a special snowflake.  i'm a law student.  i'm taking the spring semester off to be home with LO.  Then this summer i am hoping to take 2 classes and work from home (if i can find a research assistant job).  i'll finish law school this fall, take the bar next Feb, and then hopefully find a job!

  • I put SS.

I don't know what I'd be considered. I'm on Mat leave for a year. I worked full time until Dec 10th and I don't go back to work until December of this year. I'm still getting half a paycheque from my EI benefits soo I guess I could be considered a sahm?

  • I'm going back part time on the 29th then back to full time in March.  When I go FT DH will go PT.  I carry the insurance so it's not really an option for me to stay home at all.

  • The plan was for me to go back FT on 3/1, but I may go back earlier at 4 days per week.  Our childcare situation involves a long commute, and with DH not driving, it'd make things a little bit easier on everyone.  I still need to talk to my boss.
