Stay at Home Moms

Moms should be allowed sick days

I have such a bad headcold today. All I can think about is lying on the couch all day. But I have 2 very demanding toddlers here. Ahh, I miss the days of calling into work (I rarely did) and lying in bed all day to rest. Moms should be allowed a sick day. I used to recruit my parents to come help out on occasion if I didnt feel well but they're older and have been catching too may germs lately.  Just my cold medicine induced vent

Re: Moms should be allowed sick days

  • I totally take a sick day when I don't feel well.  DD brings all her toys into the living room and I lay on the couch with cartoons on all day.

  • I do kind of take a sick day. I let DD get her own food and will put on her shows all day and I will lay down on the couch and veg. I know it's pretty easy because I only have 1 and she's getting pretty easy.

I have been known to send her to my mom's when I am really sick.

  • I totally agree. I had the flu when DD was about 7 months old. She was just starting to get mobile, so it was easy enough to park her on the floor with some toys while I lay on the floor next to her. I can't imagine trying to cope with 2 toddlers running around. Feel better soon!

  • I so agree!  I caught DS's cold and have been thinking that as well. Hope you feel better.

  • I know!! I mean I will make DH stay home if I am terribly sick but some days I am not feeling well but not enough to make DH take a sick day.

When I don't feel well, I try to keep things simple and unfortunately, it will mean more TV than usual, but if I'm sick, then that's all I can do.

  • DH would stay home if I really needed it, but on days where I just don't feel well, there is usually too much tv and me making sure the couch doesn't float away.

  • I hear you!  I seem to have caught a nasty cold from one of my kids.  It's all I can do to stay upright.  I anticipate a lot of tv in the kids future.  To top it off DH is out of town until at least Tuesday.  I'm hoping the drugs kick in soon and I feel better.
  • Here too.  I have a fever and am throwing up.  DD1 is at school and I'm letting DS veg to a movie.  I'm also looking the other way while DD2 shreds tissues on the carpet.  Anything to get through until DH gets home.
