TMI: Sperm Analysis ???

My hubby is going for a sperm analysis in mid February. The RE's instructions say that no lubricant can be used while obtaining the sample. He plans to get the sample together at home. How in the world is this possible? My hubby and I are joking about it, but seriously. I don't think this is possible. He's going to rub himself raw=) Totally puzzled...

Seems like he should be able to use Pre-Seed. I would call and ask just to make sure.

I was curious, so I asked MH if he needs lube and he said he never uses it. I guess each guy is different. Hopefully he won't have any trouble. Good luck with his SA!

Well, yes, but supposedly sperm friendly. That is why I would talk to RE before using it. If he can't get it done without it then maybe better than nothing? Just throwing it out there.

Well, yes, but supposedly sperm friendly. That is why I would talk to RE before using it. If he can't get it done without it then maybe better than nothing? Just throwing it out there.

But in that line of thinkin, EWCM is also "sperm friendly" but you can't do it until he's ready and then have him pull out. I'd think if you can't use lube then you can't use pre-seed. You're mixing other stuff with the semen

Plenty of guys do it w/o lube. It's definitely possible.

Your DH has never jerked off without lube???? My DH had no problem at his SA today. They will provide him with magazines and maybe a movie to help. I think he will be fine.

Kdg is right. For the sake of getting a pure sample he can't use anything. They measure more than just the sperm count, and any other substances can mess with it.

Regardless of being sperm friendly it can mess up the results. No lube is no lube. It sucks but still needs to be done. Better to just do it without than have to redo it or to get results that aren't acurate. Good luck!

My DH has never used lube. He had his SA at the end of December, but he was able to collect the sample at home. He has to have another one done though and the info pamphlet said they have magazines/videos in the room for use. Hope your DH can do it.
