OPK tests, maybe no O?

HI, my name is Amanda and I am very new to this but I have a question and I would really like some input. I am using the answer OPK but lo and behold, I test twice a day, I even tested right when I was having the EWCM, but there is no second line on my strip. Is there something wrong with the OPK or am I just not ovulating? I am charting too and by the looks of it, I was ovulating like three days ago, but still have negative on OPK. Am I wrong or should I be going to my OB/GYN?

Do you have a chart we can see? By your paragraph there is not much to say really. How long have you been TTC?

Just because you have EWCM does not mean you are ovulating.

Can you share your chart?

The only way to confirm ovulation is through a temperature shift. Some people O without a + OPK, so I don't think it's any reason to call the Dr.

I don't know how to get a chart posted on here, I feel like I am a little behind the times, haha. I have been charting everyday, and I have yet to have a temp rise, but all other signs are there. I just am really freaked because there is no second line, the test didn't even tell me what to do if that happened. I am testing twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. THis is my first month TTGP.

To get the link to your chart, go to FF (I'm assuming that's where you're charting), click on Tools, and then click on Home Page Setup under Sharing Community. The address to your chart will be at the top of the page.

What CD are you on? Are you just getting off of BCP? It may take a few months for your cycle to regulate.

Thank you for your help, but I tested this morning, and was about to throw it out...when I saw a VERY faint line! I put my glasses on and it was there. I just must not be ovulating yet, and no I didn't just come off BCP, we used other methods of BC. Anyway, even if the line is very faint, its there. I was just so worried that no lines means no Lh at all, which means no ovulation. Maybe I just got worked up for nothing, but this is my first month, so I feel like of course I will be scared about everything not going to the norm.

From what I'm reading here and on your previous comment, you did not have a temp spike yet, so you have not ovulated yet and therefore you are not seeing a + on your OPK. Just keep going. I know how it is though, I'm new to temping and OPKs too and was freaking myself out for no reason. Good luck!

Every OPK should have a line. A + is when the test line is as dark or darker than the control. You can O without having a + OPK, the only way you'll know is with a clear temp shift.

FYI that the OPK will be + before a temp shift is apparent. That's why it's important to use OPKs to time sex, otherwise you'll miss your window if you rely on a temp shift to detect ovulation. OPKs a predictive, CHs confirm O retroactively.

When are you testing? You need to use concentrated urine, like FMU or 4 hours without drinking anything. If the urine isn't concentrated enough, the tests may not work.

Also, one last thought - you may want to use digitals if you can't tell if there is a line. It's easy to think a - is a + just by looking at the lines, but there's no mixing up a smiley face and a circle. HTH

I guess the problem is that I am trying to find O, and not missing it. There are so many things to chart and to look for, wow! Plus, I am hoping that if I don't get a positive OPK, which I am already planning to switch to digital next month (thanks for the suggestion), I still hope I don't miss the window. I actually am testing once in the morning and once towards the night, after making sure I really have to pee...lol
