Is NPN worth the money?

I'm considering joining NPN but I am hesitate to pay the membership fee.  Does anyone belong to the organization?  What benefits have you found?  How often do you use the site often?

I am a SAHM and participate in meetup.com but I am looking for additional resources of getting out of the house with the baby during winter months.  ALso, I would be interested in finding a list of restaurants, coffee shops, etc that are baby friendly (on the north side of the city).

Is it worth joining?!

Re: Is NPN worth the money?

  • I joined just to have access to the discussion boards as a new mom and for that its been worth it-but I wanted day care info which you don't need as a SAHM.  I'm starting one of their mom's groups in February. I"ve only heard good things about them though.  Sorry that wasn't too helpful!

  • I joined NPN for the daycare reviews and recommendations. So far, it's been worth it. If you're just looking for outing information, I believe their calendar is public.
  • I joined NPN a few months ago, and I love it.  I'm new to Chicago so I needed a resource for finding anything from good restaurants to kid activities.  It's been an invaluable resource so far.  You can do "searches" on the board as well to find previous posts from the past years if you don't want to post a message on the board yourself.  Definitely worth joining!

  • I joined mainly for childcare resources and it has been good.  I've also obtained other helpful information for home improvement projects, classes for the baby, etc.  I think the price is a little high, but it does have benefits.
