Anyone else's LO talk REALLY well??

I was just wondering if anyones LO can talk well?? Both of my DD's talked early and I honestly just thought it was pretty normal until I started lurking around on TB.....I see lots of posts worrying about how many words is normal for their age so I was just wondering!!

Mine were speaking in full sentences by 6 months.

I like to think my DD is a pretty good talker but I'm no professional. Today for example, I pointed to her shirt and said "This is purple." and she repeated the sentence back to me perfectly on her first try. Or today she says "Look mama, it's a ball!"
What is a good way to measure a good talker vs average??
You probably could have worded it a bit more tactfully.
My boys both started talking later than average--first words at almost 15m--but they were somewhat ahead by 18m. They each had about 50 words by 18m and about 500 or so by 24m. So yeah, their vocabularies are somewhat advanced for their age, they say words like "stethoscope" and "actually," but all kids develop differently and will be ahead in some things, behind in others, some develop in bursts while others are slow and steady, etc.

....Its late and I cant sleep... (NEVER with this pregnancy) lol....and I was just thinking about how fast she is growing and how grown up she seems already and how sad I am about it!!..:( and was just curious about other LOs...& posted quickly...
and I definetly agree that all kids develop differently and will advance in different areas....because while she have started talking early and have a large vocabulary she didnt crawl until after 10 months or walk til near 15!!..

When DS was in the hospital 1 day post birth, he stood up asking,
"So guys, whose the president of the United States now? Obama right? M'kay, Cool."
All kidding aside, the average word count for toddlers around DSs age (19mo) is 8-10 words...he says approx. 11
Alright, I'll bite for real because I've wondered this too (but, as PP said, I probably would have worded a bit differently). DD has had full sentences for months now- she had known all colors since 18 months, huge chunks of the alphabet, counts to ten, has almost 100% letter recognition, uses the "I" form and posessives (This is daddy's coffee, etc.). She finishes sentences in books, even those we don't read often, as I asked about the other day when discussing the amazing toddler memory.
BUT- she has hip dysplasia. She was in a full body cast from 13-16 months and could barely more save eventually army crawling. So, she developed verbally because her brain wanted to go SOMEWHERE. I really feel for the parents who are worried about speech because my daughter didn't walk until 19 months, and she may have to have another invasive surgery and go into another full body cast for 6 weeks so I know how it is to worry about development. So, children do all develop at different rates.And they all catch up.
This. Yeah, it really isn't looked well upon to ask a board full of toddler moms if their kids can talk well because your child is so advanced. It just doesn't come across very well. The truth is, they all have their own schedule when it comes to these things. Some kids will be very advanced verbally - like yours is. That means that the answer to your question is yes. There are other LOs that talk really well. Others aren't as far along. The same goes for any other development.
he just started reciting several Maya Angelou poems, he is taking it slower then I normally allow for a child his age, but I will reserve the ruler spanking only for when he stutters.
Next we will tackle his music writing, a severe dissapointment right now.
I guess he is on target for his words. I mean, he says Mama, Dad, Robot (his room has robots), milk...okay, he tries to say some of these, but only my H and I can understand him. He did just get tubes in his ears this week and I hear his vocab should pick up. I am not worried about his vocab. It's his lack of walking (maybe that will happen now with his shiny new tubes!) that worries me more, but not too much.
I was at DS's DC the other day to get him and one of his classmates asked for the red crayon. I almost fell over. (his class is 12-24 months). Oh, and we read to DS a lot, too. He loves his books!

It's kind of unfortunate that we can't brag about our kiddos without offending someone somewhere on bump. I agree though that the OP came off a bit standoffish.
As for your question, DD doesn't form sentences but has a large english and spanish vocabulary.
I actually did. With two of them I got in the habit of writing things down in general b/c otherwise it was hard to keep track of who did what and when (e.g. I kept a log of feeding, diaper changes, meds, etc., for a loooong time). We have a dry erase board on their bedroom door and when one of them learned a new word, I jotted it down on his list. At the pedi's office at their 15m, 18m and 24m well visits I knew they would ask how many words they had and I wanted to be able to give some kind of answer.
I originally planned to keep the list up until 24m, but I got up to about 250 words for each of them (at 22m) and then gave up. 
It seemed like from 18m on their vocabularies basically doubled every 2m (50 words at 18m, 110 at 20m, 250 at 22m). Considering how different they are and how they reached other milestones at such different paces, it was weird how closely they tracked with each other's language development!
ITA. I mean, we brag about how cute they are and when they start to walk. Why can't we brag about this? Kids develop at different rates, we all know this.
Wow, You are so organized! I haven't even updated DD's journal in months. I only write weigth and height, and only have one kid
It always amazes me when someone says "LO's says 50-100+ words", because I've always thougth when they start making phrases or short sentences, their development is fine.
Besides, I guess I'm not worried about her speech, because she seems to understand us, she does 4 signs, repeats sounds and babbles a lot. So sooner or later she will say more words.
AWing your kid is one thing, but "my kid can do multiplication - can YOURS??" Is different IMO.
I like to brag about my kid, I like to read when others brag about their kids, post milestones, and as I am just a normal human being I could feel a little envy (in a good way), when someone's baby reaches a milestone that DD hasn't reached.
But when someone asks "my LO's is the only one that ......?", I just want to answer "yes. he/she is, get a MENSA membership"
I think he's slightly ahead of average. No sentences, the occasional 2-word phrase, and probably about 40 recognizable words and another 30 that I can recognize even though he's not saying it correctly.
What impresses me most are his cognitive skills...he knows to move a box over to the couch to climb up onto it, or you can give him a set of two instructions and he can follow through. From most developmental charts I've seen he's close to a 2 year old's level of cognitive development.
But I'm sure with my math skills he'll even out in high school.
Yeah, I enjoy reading AW posts but I think there are more tactful and less tactful ways of doing so.
WOW!!..I am really sorry I offended so many people!!!!....That was not my intent at all!!.. But I do understand I should have worded it differently!!...
I know all kids develop differently!!!.... & I know I said she talks really well but I didnt make a list of all the things she says/does!!..I have never made a list of her words or tried to count them!!..I honestly wasnt trying to AW her....I just think its fun that she can have a conversation with me and I am a little sad that she seems to be growing up so fast!!
Again I just wanted to know how many other LOs could talk well because I see so many posts about the ones who dont have as many words yet!!!..

I did, just because I knew that might be one of the questions that he would ask.
I wrote down every word, development since his 15mo check and any questions I had.
Ive been noticing that its hard for me to remember everything I need to discuss with the pedi, and it ends up being a short office visit. So, when I journal everything I need to (questions, development discussions), I feel like the office visit was more satisfying.
