Since our pedi's seem to be all over the map, I was wondering about stuff we all do, suggestions we follow.
He didn't suggest waiting til 6 months to start solids but, since we did, he suggested starting with one week of rice cereal, then one week of wheat then one week of oatmeal... then green veg, then yellow etc.
He suggested offering whole milk @ 11 months, and going straight to a sippy(as opposed too a bottle) since we EBF'd.
He always checked for physical milestones the first year but seemed laid back about verbal milestones - though he would ask about eye tracking, laughing etc.
Since M turned one pedi asked about word acquisition but seems more than happy with any progress, however slow.
So, we'll see what happens next week at M's 18 month appointment.
Re: S/O - Stuff your pedi says/does
Sounds like our pediatricians are pretty similar! Maybe it's a CA thang
Both of our pediatricians have been so concerned about the heart thing that the rest is frosting.
Our current pediatrician asks about where she is, but hasn't made any suggestions other than asking us to cut down on whole milk because M was overdoing it a bit.

Double
! Do you have a surgery date yet?
I love your Simon pic! Cute AND helpful!
No date yet, the next cardio appointment is early February. H, I am sorry for hijacking your thread!
Today mine asked Q's like is she running? (heck yeah, she was running a month after she started walking). Does she point to things? Does she point to body parts? Is she on whole milk? Does she say at least 20 words? (looked a little surprised when I said she says a few hundred.) Does she eat 3 meals a day? I told him about her not eating meat & he said kids tastes do change so keep offering it, but in the meantime if she eats cheerios, breads, etc, she'll get iron from that.
Don't be silly!
