What is the ideal number for your estrogen?

I had b/w done on Thursday and my estrogen was 393 and my RE seemed to be excited about that. I had some more b/w this morning and am awaiting the results. My ER will be on Monday or Tuesday. I just read a post about someone's estrogen being 1,800. Mine seems really low and was just wondering the norm. Where should it be at this time? TIA

Re: What is the ideal number for your estrogen?

  • i don't think there's any "ideal" number--in fact, I think they like it to be on the lower side (not in the 1000s) while you're stimming to avoid the risk of OHSS.  it definitely correlates with how many mature follicles you have right before ER/O, they look for it to be 150-200 per mature follie but at the end it can rise pretty quickly so you're probably fine!!

    ER already?!  Wow--good luck!!!!!

  • Hi! The 1,800 was me. That was really the first time I'd ever been told my estrogen level (I never knew it for IVF #1). My RE's assistant was happy with the number but did say that I could be at risk for mild hyper-stimulation because of the high estrogen. So it sounds like you're just fine. Good luck! :)

  • For my first IVF my E2 at trigger was in the 900s (they got 4 mature eggs) at my WTF my RE told me that that was considered low and she would like it to be double that so we are changing protocols for a better responce next IVF.

That said though, Thursday was 2 days ago so I am sure you will see a huge jump the next blood draw. They tend to rise fairly quickly each and every day.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • Really there is no ideal where you "should" be.  It just all depends.  I had 5 blood draws and my levels were 735, 2124, 4185 and then 6796, so my levels were pretty darn high.  Considering how my cycle turned out I definitely wouldn't say that higher is better.
