Do you use a shopping cart cover?

If you do, you can recommend yours? Apparently some of them don't fit on the newer types of carts, like the kinds at Target, which would be a problem.

I always thought they were kind of silly, but now that M tries to put everything in his mouth, I can totally see him mouthing the grocery cart handlebar. Ick!  They also seem more comfy than sitting in a metal seat.

  • We have the Eddie Bauer shopping cart cover from Target, and it fits the carts at Target, Kohl's, grocery store, etc. It's great for when DS was sitting up and putting his mouth on everything.

  • I got one from Etsy & LOVE it!  I use it as a cart cover (fits all I have tried so far, Target included) but use it even more as a highchair cover for when we eat out.  It is something that I kind of scoffed at when I was pregnant and had first heard of them, but I will tell ya that thing is awesome!

There are lots of sellers out there on Etsy, but I liked the fabric sellection that the one at the link below had.

  • We have the Boppy Protect Me Shopping Cart cover, but when I just went to goggle it, it looks like they are discontinued.

I've never had a problem fitting it to normal carts (not Costco-sized), and I use it more as a high chair cover.

  • DD is past the mouthing stage, but, I didn't use one - I just wipe the handlebar down with a tissue and antibacterial gel (or those wipeys if the store has them...)

In hindsight, it probably would have been a worthwhile purchase.

  • I used the Boppy one when DS was littler.  I stopped, but for some reason he is into licking things right now so I think I'll start using it again.

Never had any trouble with it fitting the carts.

  • mine was a hand-me-down, I used it w/ DD for a few months and then stopped; just used it for the 1st time w/ DS last weekend

  • I have a great one that I got at the Doodlehopper in Falls Church.

It is made of some sort of nylon, and comes with it's own little bag.  It's really small, so it's easy to keep it in my bag all the time.  I also use it for highchairs in restaurants.  My daughter has food allergies, and is contact reactive, so we can't really put her in a highchair or cart, even with cleaning it, without her breaking out in hives.  It's been great!

  • I asked this same question about 6 months ago! :) I did use one until he was about 13 months. At that point he was out of the "mouthing" everything stage, and now I just wipe it down...it is definitely worth the money IMO, even if it's just for 6 months or so. I have one of the Floppy Seat ones, don't love it, but it did the job!

  • I bought a 2 Red Hens cover at Great Beginnings.  Kind of pricey but it folds and zips into a small pillow - just clips to the diaper bag.

  • I used one for a while with DD1, mostly for comfort because she rarely put stuff in her mouth. I didn't use it as much with DD2 because it was one more thing to handle when trying to get myself and two kids into the store, but I did use if with her for a while when she was in the stage of everything going in her mouth. I got mine used on either craigslist or ebay (I forget which).

  • We have one from babiesrus similar to this- https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4243132

This has worked for every shopping cart/highchair we ever encountered in 4 years - including Sam Club/Costco.

Works great, folds into itself so it makes it easy to carry. Has loops on it to attach toys to. Pocket inside to hold a sippy cup or snack cup. Washable!!

I abhor how unsanitary shopping carts & highchairs in restaurants are - so we used this 100% of the time for DD probably until she was near 3. And now I use it for DS. So it has held up really well for 4 years now.
