Just wanted to ask for thoughts and prayers. My dad was diagnosed with and treated for lung cancer last year. He had been having some major issues lately that ranged from altered personality to memory loss and balance problems. It's a long story, but he was not really getting all the care for these problems he needed.
On Wednesday morning he had a seizure and was rushed to the ER by ambulance. They sent him to Birmingham (my parents live near Dothan/Ozark) for treatment for a mass on his brain. DH and I have been back and forth a lot the past few days checking on them and making sure my mom had food and a place to stay.
The doctors performed an MRI yesterday and told my family today (while DH and I were at our childbirth class, so that's where I got the news by phone) that the cancer from his lungs had spread to his brain. Now they have to do tests to see if it has spread to other areas.
They are not going to do surgery because he would not survive it. They are going to attempt to treat with radiation, but if it has spread to other areas, I'm not sure how much good it will do.
Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers if you think about it. It's stressful on everyone, and I am trying really hard to balance taking care of myself and the baby with helping/being with my family.
(Edited title ... already knew he had lung cancer, but we found out about the brain cancer today.)
Re: Found out today my dad has brain cancer
I too am so sorry to hear of this about you dad. You have my T&P on this. I do pray he's better soon. That they don't find futher cancers within. You keep focused on that LO while still trying to do what you can for your parents. Keep us posted on his progress and yours too. As I've said you stay focused on your LO first then your parents. Know that God hears your prayers and those sent by us others. GL

So sorry you're going through this. I'll be thinking about your family during this difficult time.
Praying for your family!
What Docter is your dad seeing? My Mom had brain surgery at UAB in October and it is a very difficult surgery. They warned us about the postop recovery, but no in enough detail. She has also see oncologists at UAB in the past so I just was curious as to which Dr. your Dad is seeing.
