Houston Babies

anyone use Angelcare monitor?

We registered for a Summer's Infant video one, but I really wanted an Angelcare because I read they can alert you if the baby stops breathing.

I found one for a superb price today.

Does anyone have one? Love it / hate it?

Re: anyone use Angelcare monitor?

  • we have a video one and the angel care. e hasn't slept in his crib much at all but the few times he has the angel care being there allowed me to sleep. i'm a crazy worrier about the breathing stuff and i think the angel care is worth.

imo, if it's a good price and it will ease your mind (and heart) when the little one gets here...get it.

  • I could not have lived without it.  I LOVED it.  I didn't get a video until he was 22ish months, when he started climbing out of his crib, and I like my video monitor a lot NOW, but I'm not sure it would have been worth it when he was tiny.  I care about seeing him more now than I did then, I just wanted to know he was still breathing then.  I never had any trouble deciphering his cries when he was little, so it never bothered me not being able to see him.

I wil definitely use it again whenever we have another baby.

  • We opted for a Snuza Halo. We were super paranoid, first time parents. But, DH and I had never held a newborn and he had never changed a diaper, I had like twice I think. We were very umcomfortable in the beginning. A friend told us about the Snuza. It let us sleep a little better at night since DS hated his bassinett he was in his crib in another room. The alarm is really loud, you will hear it. There were a few times when he somehow wiggled it off and the alarm went off. Otherwise it was great. DS is almost 10 months old and we just removed it.

  • It was $20, new in the box, at a consignment shop so I went back and got it!

We will also get the video one, because DH is dead set on it. I just really want the Angelcare so I'm glad you guys recommended it and that I found it for practically nothing.

She won't be sleeping in our room.......we're not really giving her a choice, we don't have room for a basinette or pack & play.

Never say never. Just sayin'. I was the same exact way. Yeah she slept with us for 3 months. She hated her crib because of her reflux and momma and daddy needed sleep. Hahaha. I also said I hated the color pink. Oh yeah I'm eating my words now. Wink

We have a snuza though and I LOVE it. Especially since Olivia couldn't sleep in her crib because of her reflux and she needed to be elevated she slept in her RNP for 3 1/2 months. I think rayskitt recomended it or someone here did.

  • What's an RNP?

Obviously, if she has an issue like reflux where she can't sleep in the room alone she will be sleeping in our room. Or rather, I'll be sleeping on a blow up bed in her room! We honestly dont' have / aren't buying any other sleeping options because our house just doesn't have room for it. The only option would be to sleep in her carseat in our room, that's how pressed for space it will be!

  • The RNP is the Fisher Price Rock N Play - it's not a lot bigger than a car seat (width wise) actually and folds up flat for storage during the day.  We love ours, love, love, love it.

We had the Angelcare and liked it for a regular monitor.  We never really used the breathing portion of it though since we ended up co sleeping and by the time she was in her crib, she was big enough to move off the sensor board.

this was us also, minus the co-sleeping part (most nights).  The were both in our room or living  room for some time and by the time we were ready to use the monitor pad, they were too squirming for it to work. .

  • I loved using the Agelcare monitor.  We used it with the sensor until he was 24 months and moved out of the crib.

  • Use the Angelcare monitor and video monitor.  I'm sad about moving the Angelcare monitor to the new crib because it gives me such peace of mind!
