7 months and cosleeping, nursing is not working anymore!

Those who bf and cosleep, does nursing always get your LO back to sleep?  There are some great nights where he wakes every hour and comfort suckles right back down, and then there are other nights where he is up every 20 minutes and never going back down.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Is it just a phase? teething?  I am exhaused, but want to continue night nursing and cosleeping.

  • We still nurse at night and bring DD into our bed to nurse.  Sometimes she falls back asleep, but other times she talks and wants to play.  We take her back to her bed either way because she sleeps better that way.  Your LO might do better sleeping away from you a bit.  I feel like it's overstimulating for our DD to have us too close at night.  It seems to keep her awake more than calm her back down.

  • My LO is like that at least once during the night. She just wants to lay on top of me. When she was teething it was really bad awake alot and nursing did not help. For me moving her makes no difference, just makes me more awake. It may be worth a try but it didn't work for us. I am just waiting for the phase to be over not much else I feel like I can do.

  • DS stirs frequently at night and nurses back to sleep.  He generally doesn't wake all the way up.  However, since he has learned how to sit up on his own he seems to sometimes have this uncontrollable urge to sit up when he wakes up.  Sometimes he is obviously sleepy and I can lay him back down and nurse him down.  Other times he wants to roam around the bed (he can't quite crawl, but can move a good bit).  I can't really let him move around while I'm sleeping in case he falls off the bed, so I do my best to try to get him back to sleep while exerting myself very little. I hold him on top of me or next to me or rock from side to side. Sometimes he is up for a while, but I haven't had to get out of bed in the middle of the night yet.
