Pregnant after a Loss

Dear Blue Cross...(a wee bit of a rant)

When my doctor writes a prescription for zofran 8mg 4x a day for 30 days, he isn't making a suggestion that should translate to 24 pills for 12 days and the same amount of refills. I know you'll appreciate this more when the ER bills start rolling in because I can't hold anything down and require an IV. Love your faithful insurance subscriber, Hunter.

  • Is that a pharmacy thing, or a BC thing?

  • BC unfortunately. This happened last time with DS as well except then they were only willing to pay for 24 pills in 25 days. Only when I ended up in the ER 4times in 30 days and my OB called three times to tell them it was a compelling need did they approve the correct prescription. My OB has already called them so I was hoping by this refill it would have been taken care of. No such luck :(
  • Insurance issues can be so frustrating. I have ended up having to pay a couple of lab bills out of pocket this time because the dr office/insurance didn't bill it right and I was tired of calling and arguing. Ugh.

  • That sucks.  BC is weird in what the approve on rx's.  My plan would only let me get one month of BCPs at a time- what a pain.  I'm sure they do it so you don't waste pills you don't need, but do you really *need* to go that often to pick up a script?
