Posting this for those of you about to buy/register for bottles...
I bought into the hype of these bottles and was super-excited to start using them once baby was feeding well on the breast. I was extremely disappointed with them for the following reasons:
1. The base of the nipple is so wide and then with a slightly shorter nipple, it was hard to get the last bit of milk in the bottle INTO the nipple...you basically have to feed with the baby laying completely flat to get the milk into the nipple.
2. The nipple is hard to get into the cap/flange thing. It has to sit just so in the screw cap or you can't screw it on to the bottle - VERY frustrating compared to other nipples that just push right in to place.
3. When the bottles are in the dishwasher, upside-down of course, there is a lip in it that collects water - so some of your dishwasher water is sitting in the bottle. Yuck.
If you have used Tommee Tippee and have had success - please tell me what I'm doing wrong!
Okay - I'm off my soapbox.
Re: Tommee Tippee PSA
This is really good feedback. The dishwasher thing is gross. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I bought these plus the pacifiers...
I have not used them yet as I have not had the baby but I hope they work fo rme... I hate buying crap and it not being as great as it should be... I probably should have stuck with Avent...
And if I do use one bottle and hate it I probably can't return the whole set could I? I bought it at BRU...
Tommee Tippee is my bottle of choice for now. I have heard so many good things about them and I have several friends in Europe and stateside that ONLY use these. I'm mainly using this bottle because I plan to BF and pump. Our LC said to not introduce the bottle (any bottle) before LO is 6 weeks. Tommee Tippee is supposed to be the best bottle on the market for babies who are transitioning from breast to bottle.
I do know that they have several different nipples. I don't know that changing the nipples would solve the problems that you sound like you are having. I also don't see anything you can do about getting that last drop of milk. You may have to "let that go". As for the dishwasher, as long as the bottles are not at an angle, then they should not hold water. water should fall right back out and dry accordingly.
